The purpose of the Coburn Amendment is to take money from the ?Bridge to Nowhere? project in Alaska, to the repair and reconstruction in Louisiana. Because of Katrina, Louisiana need all the money they can get for rebuilding.

So, call your representatives and tell them to vote "yes" on this amendment.

Agreed. Perhaps the other senators who voted against it were afraid this would start a trend and scrutiny period where all their own pet projects would be up for votes. They already approved it once even though it was like many others, buried in the Highway Transportation Bill. To vote it down now would make them look like bigger asses then they already are, if that is possible. Cover thy ass and your own pork.

Mostly "evil" Republicans on that YEA list. Imagine that. So much for Democrats caring about the disadvantaged.

Yes, let's turn this into a Democrat vs Republican as quickly as possible! It's not like 82 Senators voted for the thing.....

Well, since the GOP-dominated House/Senate largely cooked up the budget in the first place shouldn't they get most of the credit for the waste?

I think this just got to show how little either party is interested in fiscal discipline.

Why not? The point is, when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is, Democrats are no better than Republicans. With all the bitching around here about how evil the Republicans are, it's not going to get any better under Democrat rule. This is proof.
