I didn't think it was great, but I also didn't think it was that bad. Nothing original for sure.

Now a really, really bad Netflix movie we just watched tonight called 'Open House'........let's just say I wish I could get back the 90 minutes I wasted watching that dumpster fire.

Pretty much agree with people here.

BTW - The chick who was about to drown in the chamber, how did they expect to save her by opening a door to outer space?

I thought the cast and acting was pretty good but the story was just a mess. I couldn't tell what kind of horror movie it was supposed to be. Demonic, paranormal, alien, or an alternate evil universe crossover.

> Open House

I want to know the 13 reasons why that movie was greenlit.

I can only give one reason:

crack-pipe-picture-id610648922

It's probably the worst movie I have seen in years.

Edit:

I also can't believe 1 of 10 people actually liked this garbage. It should be a negative number ;) :

I got duped as well. Absolutely terrible.

Netflix got duped into paying $50 Million for the rights to it.

It cost Paramount $45 Million to develop this stinker. They knew it was garbage and would never make that back, so they sold the rights to Netfix for $50 Million.
https://screenrant.com/cloverfield-paradox-paramount-netflix-release/

The claim that Netflix somehow wins here don't really hold up. Netflix doesn't sell advertising so conventional ratings don't matter.

Instead Netflix paid $50 million for a terrible movie that they had no hand in creating. The more people that see it, the more it tarnishes their brand.

It just looks like Paramount played Netflix. Maybe before Netflix pay $50 Million for something they should watch it first.

I was hoping Jessica Lucas would make a return. Oh man was she hot in the original. But I digress.

They could have just called this movie Paradox (forget the Cloverfield) and it would probably have done better in the reviews. I think the Cloverfield fans were expecting more answers, and rightly so.

The biggest problem is that each character in the movie was so weakly developed. The German guy, who was German / Spanish background for real didn't even seem authentic. And Donal Logue as the guy warning us all? It was a pretty sad cast. And of course no Jessica.

That was an oddly creepy shot.

I think my favorite part of the whole movie was the arm lol. The last shot of it boredly tapping its fingers was great made me laugh :D

I feel like it could have been a really great movie. The balance of the story was off, however...the first thing that came to mind was Firefly. They really nailed the occasional fun humor + serious space movie + great story thing in Firefly. Those were three separate & distinct parts in the Cloverfield Parados, with the story being pretty meh because they were trying to hit too many targets. Earth is in energy crisis! Nah, weird things are happening now, like a person gets stuck in the wall & the wall randomly tries to suck people in & people get filled up with worms & compasses! Oh wait, save the other dimension! No wait, monsters! But we're kind of focused on this girl & her not-dead family!

I almost think this would have been done better as a TV show, so that they could take their time introducing each of those random concepts - because I think they COULD have worked together, but it was a bit too piecemeal to really go together smoothly in the timeframe given. On the flip side...the graphics were unbelievable. The exterior space station shots looked SO GOOD! Great camera work too...anamorphic lenses & widescreen, just looked really great all around.

I did like the comedy bits with the guy from the IT Crowd. Reminded me a bit of Red Dwarf for some reason. Other parts had a nice serious vibe, a la Alien/Aliens. I was actually pretty bored for the beginning (the opening car scene & the first bit in space), kind of took awhile to get my attention (finally finished it on the third try lol).

A different ending might almost have saved it...................almost.

The monster scene at the end should have been after the credit, Marvel-style, as a tie-in to the original Cloverfield movie.

I have a thing for her too. You may have to subject yourself to the Melrose Place remake to get your fix.

Paramount had the most perfect execution for this movie by dumping it off the Netflix garbage truck right after the super bowl. They released a steaming turd sandwich. Millions of people were gobbling it up before they realized what was in it.

I don't think it was awful. At least, it wasn't a total loss. Graphics were cool, cinematography was good, had some really fun parts here & there. The story-telling reminded me of the splintering issues from World War Z & Suicide Squad, that's all. Could have been a really great movie with some tweaks...as it was, it was good for a one-time watch as a popcorn flick! I've seen worse :D

Finally watched it. It was OK. I've seen much worse. It really was to many ideas in one film though. So many questions about "free energy" project in space though. That was the really bad premise of the film but was needed to move the plot along for the writers.

Truthfully thought it was going to be an bio-experiments movie in space then they escape to earth. The worms and and the things that grabbed the one arm guy was what I thought the whole film would be. At least it wasn't that.

This movie...was bad....but now a true Cloverfield sequel is in the works.

I'll believe it when I see it. They've been talking about a real sequel ever since the first one and it's gone nowhere. The only thing that leads me to be remotely optimistic about it is that a real sequel might be the only way to save the franchise. If they do another fake one now it will probably bury the Cloverfield name forever. People are stupid, but not that stupid. However, if they do a good real one that will erase the last two and allow them to churn out a another couple of fakes down the line.

Am I the only one that thought the scale of the Cloverfield monster at the end was ridiculous? It's head was above the clouds, meaning the height would have been 13,000 meters, or ~40,000 feet high.

Couple of monsters like that and it'll absolutely demolish the world. I thought continuing from original Cloverfield would have been fine.

10 Cloverfield Lane was a decent movie, but has no connection to the original either. Only the name. The original didn't have any indication of aliens.

Scale of monster in the third movie + weird alien connection on the second = Writers lacking imagination justifying connection to the original

No, you're not the only one. Probably the most out-of-place, WTF moment in a movie full of out-of-place WTF moments.
