Post great gift ideas you have (links if you wanna share them with people so they can buy as well). What's the one gift you wish you could get? Etc.....

My top wants:
Approval from the parents to let me have rifles/gun safe in their house 🙂
A few cases of Bawls
Nice TV tuner card
A nice watch (Any suggestions guys? I just want something really clean looking that won't break)
Replacements for my worn out Ecco 'Cross' shoes(so damn comfy, but so damn pricey!)
Parents to commit to HDTV within the next year so I can watch a bigscreen when home for holidays 🙂
See my friends
A case of Strongbow cider

IF YOU DO NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR. FEEL FREE TO SHARE ANY GIFT GIVING THAT IS PRACTICED IN YOUR RELIGION HERE.

Parents- Gonna treat dad to a new set of golf irons if possible (such as him protesting like I expect, probably just a set of knockoffs on ebay like the ones I own). He has been playing with ancient Callaways that were his father in-laws from 1981 and are too short for him. Mom is probably gonna get a GPS or a new cellphone (Cellphone for dad is he refuses clubs). If these all fall through, going to get them Netflix and teach them how to use torrents 🙂

Sister- Not sure yet, maybe a flash card for her digicam

Grandparents- Going to build a collapsible ramp to help their dog with bad hips get into the car. Possibly a navigation system if I can find one that is very very simple to use, even if it doesn't have best features.

Girlfriend- Ehhh.... Wish I had one 🙂

Of course I'll be giving $100 to at least one charity that supports the lowest income people in America and/or internationally which spends at least 90% of every donation on direct aid.

This is the first year that I will be purchasing my presents on my own for other people and I really want to get them some great things to give back after so many years of them being generous to me, even if it means spending beyond what I should.

A navi for my father is probably the most exotic gift I plan to give.

My father has THE c320 and my mom is always stealing it from him, so a second is in order.

Any actual pics of the unit?

Not on me, no. The thing is a little bigger than my fist (I'm 6'2"), and my father was able to load the maps and work it. He would have never bought it on his own, but was given it as a thank you present.

she's wanting a daily commuter,

no decision yet but she's torn between the volvo s40/60
and
volkswagen passat 2006 or earlier

I think you might make more money than me...but I'm not sure.

Good choices, trying to get the 'rents into one of those if they can afford it soon.

My plan is to bring my Wii to my parents house for Thanksgiving and convince my brother that it's awesome, because there's no way in hell my parents are going to be able to get him the PS3 he wants. If he wants a Wii, I'll buy him one.

Hmmm.. on the past year we've replaced every tv and every computer in the house, everybody's got new LCD monitors,a new laser printer, everybody's got new desks and mp3 players too.

we're going to CA in Jan so Xmas will be fairly modest

games for my son
itunes gc's
extra memory for hubby's notebook
computing accesories
gym, sporting type good accesories
gifts for our new kitten whom we are spoiling rotten

I'm thinking about making a donation to the woman's lunch place(a dayshelter for homless, elderly and disabled women) as my gift.

(i feel like i just posted this 😀 )
i would like some stuff from Sephora.com
victoriassecret.com
coach.com
Usually family will ask.

What i am giving... i have not decided just yet. 🙁
Not really that many folks to buy for it seems

I think my family finds me to be about the hardest person on earth to shop for, because I'm happy with what I've got and really don't have anything that I want. My wife wants new appliances for the kitchen, so I'm/we're getting her a duel fuel, stainless steel, double convection oven. My father chipped in to get her (us) a nice dishwasher as well. Plus the kitchen is getting a face lift.

We might get some laptops for the kids this year, depending on the deals we run into. A couple years ago, the kids got really lucky - we were done shopping for them, but Galyans was bought out by Dicks and had a huge sale; got them each a new kayak for about 60% off the original price. A lot of our shopping kinda works that way... gottadeal posted a great deal on a roomba discovery the other day; my wife would love to have one, so one is on its way.

For the watch, I have a low end Citizen Eco-Drive. It was about $120. It is awesome. Very durable and looks great.

Same here... if I wanted something, I'd buy it for myself. I wish I could get my parents to understand that they don't HAVE to buy me anything.

this year is weird for me, because I usually build up a list of electronic gadgets/computer stuff that I want, but between working this summer and my graduation (most of the presents I got in August) I can't really think of anything I want, I got most of it 🙂

P.S., for a great gift idea, I got this last year -- the greatest gift for even the occasional traveler is the Slingbox. I think I've done more advertising for this company than any other product I've ever owned -- thats because its awesome. Mine is setup at my parents' in Dallas, and I can watch their TV anywhere that has a broadband connection, I keep the software loaded on my laptop and USB key, and I'm hardly ever without one of those -- last night I was working late in the lab in Atlanta, and I was able to watch Louisville-Rutgers; get all of my out-of-market games of the Dallas sports teams and Texas A&M teams. The condo I'm living in is thinking of getting rid of their expanded basic cable in order to allow some to get an HDTV feed (which I think is an awful plan, but I'm only one vote) -- and if they do, I'll just Sling all of my TV- saving $50+/month. Of course, I hope you have multiple TVs, otherwise you can find yourself 'fighting' over the remote with someone far away, hehe!

I'm trying to come up with something indispensable like that this year but I haven't come across anything yet. It seems that I have every gadget that I would really like to use, and my computers are only a few months old, and its been a year since I played video games, and I have no desire to do that anymore.

My wife told me about that, that's a good idea. How much bandwidth does it use?
