Anyone catch this last night?

I'm pretty iffy on it so far but I'll prob give it another few episodes to get going. I saw them filming a bunch of this show since it was right outside my work. They really went out of their way to try and cram as much 'Chicago' as they could into it (criminal's house papered windows with Red Eye, a daily paper here, etc).

Hopefully they can get into a groove.

I came in about half way through and was completely lost... Let's hope this isn't a show that you have to watch every episode to have any idea whats going on.

I doubt it will be, they basically gave the entire plot for the season/show up front and with the 'upcoming scenes' section at the end.

thought it was pretty good.

Will really like it if they go the route of "The Shield" and work outside the system, aka just kill Delroy Lindo once they realize they can't get him through proper channels.

I'm not one for fake cop shows but I did just watch the entire season of "The Shield" due to an injury that put me on my butt

I guess one of the producers is on this new show so I watched it. It has potential. Simple theme though, bring down the bad black man.

I saw about 1/2 of it last night. It was decent. We will have to wait and see if it will make the 'rating' requirement from CBS or not.

Shows that don't arc usually suck. Don't fret though, Fox will cancel this so fast it won't be an issue.

I watched most of this show last night and thought it was decent. Given a choice of watching this versus The Cape in the same time slot I'll take this, but that may not be saying much. It would have been hard to lay much more groundwork for the first season with just one episode. Teresa Colvin is a very nice looking lady and is the city's first female superintendent. It's a bit of a stretch, but you see a few clips of her rising through the ranks, so I can buy it I guess.
Her ex-partner Detective Jarek Wysocki is one of those cops who would rather ride alone than have a partner, and finds some way to get rid of any newly assigned partner usually after just one day. I'm not sure if it's the actor playing the character or if the character is one of those people that never shows any emotion, but you don't get much if ever in any kind of facial expression change from Jared. I think he may have cracked something of a smile when he was shown hiding in his ex-wifes closet after a romp with her.
So Colvin gets Jared to go after Alderman Ronin Gibbons, supposedly the most evil man in Chicago. The problem initially is that you don't see the Alderman doing anything really. He's alleged to be behind a number of really bad things. Towards the end of the pilot we finally get someone who implicated him being behind a couple of murders in Grant Park. So although watchable I thought this first episode was a little on the weak sauce side, but it does have some potential, I guess we'll see.

All I know is that on the commercials for it the guy who yells 'YOU THINK YOU CAN CHANGE HOW THINGS ARE RUN IN CHICAGOOO!?" looks like his teeth are rotting.

I liked it, but given that it's on fox and not a cartoon don't know how much faith I have on it being around for long.

Watched 10 minutes of it. When the cop brought the perp over to his girlfriend, the perp falls to his knees and hugs her, I turned the channel.

As a Chicago native, I laughed at it a bit.

A sox fan and a cubs fan being partners!?!? Chaos!!

Show seems like a waste of Delroy Lindo's talent!

Did everything in that episode happen in one day? Seems like a stretch and quite unrealistic.

I agree, the pacing of the show was all wrong. It was happening way too fast, but maybe they were just trying to get the storyline into play so people will tune in next week.

I was massively disappointed. It seemed a bit edgier in the previews--more NYPD Blue, but that was quickly erased in the opening car chase sequence...seriously--wtf was that? all of it up until allright buddy, let's take you to your GF so you can propose then send you off to jail. I smell a hint of a terrible producer forcing some dumb shit like that in the first 5 minutes to keep the kids watching. horrible.

Could be that it was just the pilot, but it was a jumbled mess of things. the forced accents were terribad--especially Beals.

Also...wtf kind of Alderman has that kind of power? lol. It was nice to see, though, that his office was in a building where I worked--which is not a state government building, at all. hah. (at least, I think it was that building)

the narration was terrible. oozing with useless cliche after useless cliche. c'mon!

anyhoo, I'll give it another shot or two simply b/c I was really looking forward to it.

Yeah, I feel similar on a lot of points. The worst was the chase.. I'd love to know where there are 10 miles of open road in the loop without lights like that :p

Noticed that right away, traffic is never that clear in Chicago. I hate driving downtown. Nice views of the city though. :D

I'd say the show was supposed to occur over at least 2, maybe three days.
