well yesterday i saw the msrp for the base edition and it is under 10 grand for what looks to be a competitior to the sciontb (or ta, i dunno) and the dash looks like it was made decently, and from edmunds
pro's
Low price, ample headroom, logical control layout, available MP3 player, loads of cargo room in hatchback models.

cons
Flat seats, shorter warranty period than some of its competitors

which seems to not be to bad. i was just wondering if anyone has actually seen one? i think it looks better than the scion.

I saw one at the auto show. It seemed relatively well put-together considering it's a Daewoo-engineered car. It's just another Korean subcompact but this time it has a Chevy badge on it.

As far as the looks, it's pretty ugly, but it's no worse than the Scions (particularly the xA) IMO.

I like it, but I think I'd be hesitant to buy it. I have nightmarish recollections of it becoming the next Aspire, Festiva, Metro or Justy.

This proves my theory, no matter how ugly you make a car, there will ALWAYS be someone that will buy it.

I saw one on the road today. Let's just say you get what you pay for. ;)

It looks like a new version of the Metro, and we all know what winners those were.

One other negative about the Aveo is that it comes with a standard Chevy warranty - not a longer powertrain warranty like those offered by Hyundai and Kia.

The subcompact wars: a battle for the longest time General Motors has lost. GM plans to fight back with this little gem: the Aveo.

This car in a nutshell picks up where the Metro left off, and hopefully can do things the Metro couldn't. Made in cooperation with GM Daewoo Automotive Technologies, the Aveo was styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro's ItalDesign Studios in Italy. Simply put, it is a very much upgraded version of the Daewoo Lanos. Interior quality, control and feel are improved over its predecessor.

Although not the mileage champion that the Metro was, Aveo's style and definaition more than make up for the loss. A long list of standard convenience and safety features make Aveo the ideal choice for both first time buyers and those that need a second car to run around town in.

Suzuki has its own version of this vehicle, called the Swift+, available only in Canada, and on the street now as well.

I wouldn't consider it in the first place because of that fvcking-retarted rap song they play on the commercial.

If I can roll all day, I can roll all night....... :)

So no McRapping, McDonalds for ya either :)

I'd rather buy a $3000 Gary Fisher bike rather than drive that ANYWHERE. I'd even brave cold Michigan winters on two wheels rather than buy that thing.

Eh, I'm thinking it might get some aftermarket for it. Light, with a decent little 4 banger. The domestic import for wanna-be's.

It won't have any more aftermarket than the Geo Metro, Suzuki Swift, etc etc. Nobody buys a $10k NEW car to spend $5k on mods when they can spend that on a used car and have a much better result.

Those cars had pathetic 3 cylinders that weren't going anywhere though. This has a reasonable 4 banger, brother of those put in Cavaliers...

Knock it for its looks, but it was really not a bad little car back in the day. Excellent mileage and pretty darn reliable to boot. Consumer Reports actually gives it a red check (recommended) for the Geo Metro. The Chevy Metro fared slightly worse, but still earned a black check. The reliability ratings don't look as good as a Toyota or a Honda, but the price was about half of those as well.

you would have to be retarded not to buy a Hyundai/Kia over the GM

The Hyundai/Kia's have a 100,000 miles, 10 years Warranty
