The last time I ordered a box of paperclips, Staples sent a shrink wrapped 'case' (10 boxes), not that I needed the first 100 anyway. I sent the order to a friend (coupon/rebate deal for software/memory) which he mailed to me- postage over $7! Way more than the clips. I specifically told (emailed) him not to mail the paperclips.

Later, after I called and confirmed delivery, he said he needed paperclips and would like some if I could spare a box, and if I didn't mind sending them back! I guess he never really read my email.

Arrgh. Making deals tough!

<< Now, every couple of months or so I get all the paperclip boxes together and schlep them into work. Better than taking up space in my house. >>

hehehe, i remember when people used to steal paperclips from work, now they are stealing them away to work.

i have more paper clips than i will ever be able to use

sometimes i'll order something i actually need, like legal pads or pens/pencils

if staples (and od, om) were smart they would just round-up 99.99, 149.99, etc - the amount of money they must be losing by packaging & shipping a box via ups with 16 cents of paper clips is riduclous

it's like those big companies that send customers bills for $.17 - the spent more on the stamp that the amount of the bill

I pay a few cents extra and get colored rubber bands for my kids to play with or take to schoool :) I got tired of taking boxes of paperclips to work.

I've got too many paper clips and rubber bands! Thanks netmamma for the tip about getting packing tape. I"ve gotten Avery Glue Stics, 3/Pack (Item No. 4325260) $0.84, Pushpins (Item No. 526046) $0.75, and Metal Binder Clips, Medium Capacity, 5/8" (Item No. 831602) $0.94, 24/Pack. I do miss the MSN signup CD for $0.01, though.
