Pretty amazing how MLC pricing (post #2) and TLC pricing (post #3) are so close together. This even though they both have Silicon Motion controllers.

Perhaps this has to do with the CS1211 being an older drive and the ECO3 being a New release drive?

P.S. Taking that a step further, I do wonder what happens to the price gap between planar TLC NAND drives and 3D TLC drives ? Maybe it widens as the planar TLC NAND takes on the older drive pricing while the TLC V-NAND uses new release pricing?

Edit: I think that this SSD uses a Phison S8 controller, which is prone to occasional stuttering. (I have one with a cloned Win7 64-bit Pro install from Lenovo in a Beema quad-core laptop, and it occasionally gives me stutter issues, apps greying out, etc. Though I'm not 100% sure it's the SSD, it could be the bloatware.)

thumbs up for the new PNY drives that allow me to upgrade all my shiat computers as well as family laptops to ssd dirt freaking cheap! :)

I don't mind 2.5" drives for my main desktop but I also use a NUC which of course is so tiny it needs an m.2 drive. I currently run Windows off a WD USB 3.0 drive. But as time goes by, this thing is wearing on me because everything loads so slow that I may just eventually suck it up and buy the cheapest MLC 240GB drive I can find.

And just so people know, this isn't a tremendous performer or anything. If you are looking for the fastest drive around, this isn't for you. If you're looking to save $20-$50 for your relative's system, it's a great deal.

OCZ Trion 150 480GB $99

First time I've ever seen a 500GB SSD for $100

I installed a Trion 100 240GB and it works fine for my parents PC. OCZ has a great advanced replacement warranty, too...not that I've used it but they can't be worse to deal with than Samsung. The Trion 150 is supposedly among the best TLC NAND SSD's before you get into VNAND.

This may not seem like much of a "deal", since other (mostly TLC) SSDs are under $60, but this is a good one (assuming that they haven't changed controllers again).

Roughly BX100-like hardware (SMI SM2246EN controller, MLC NAND). I have two of these, and the one that I've used so far seems like it's pretty decent. I paid $68 or so a while ago, and I consider that a deal at the time.

I think that this might be the first time this drive has gone below $60.

It's possibly, though, that the controller has been changed, but AFAIK it's still MLC.

They used to advertise these as 3K Toggle NAND MLC, but since Newegg changed their product titles, I'm not so sure that's true any more.
