The cars are gone

RIP. I don't think I ever intentionally listened to any of their music, but I AM familiar with some of it due to the airplay they got.

Well this is not good. But finally Paulina Porizkova is single again. news agencies reporting he was 75 but Wiki, which can be wrong, says the year of birth was 1949. How does 2019-1949 = 75?

The article linked in the OP says:

"(There is some confusion about his year of birth, but 1944 is most frequently cited.)"

I watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High at an inappropriately young age. That soundtrack set my life...the riffs from Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and The Cars Moving in Stereo had me hooked. I wanted to get a guitar and make it sound like that.

Put on some headphones, listen to this, and realize it was recorded in 1978. Fantastic music and fantastic band.

That sucks. I used to lump them in with most other bands of that era, and even thought I might downright dislike them because of I think Circuit City using the "Just what I needed" vocal in their ads. Then I think one morning driving to work it came on and I didn't recognize what it was and was enjoying the riff. Then it got to the chorus and I was like WTF, its that song? And so I checked out some more of theirs and realized they were way different than I thought (I think I assumed they were like some synthy new wave band based on Moving In Stereo) and found I liked several of their songs.

I think Moving in Stereo was their best song. 🙂

I listen to my Cars Greatest Hits album every few days. I still skip track 1 ("Just What I Needed") every time. Same reason. Reminds me of ads from local car dealerships.
