This is sad. I have had my Radeon VE for 2 years , which is the first card I ever bought to build by own computer;). For X-mas a radeon 9500pro looks like the sweeeeet spot, pricing and perfomence wise.

All you audio/network card people: Have you noticed this is a video forum???

For me a POS trident card I had in my old $4,000 Northgate 386 that was my main computer for 6 years.

Did not matter much as the first 4 years I had a black and white monitor (actually 64 shades of grey wahoo).

Next longest was my Micron PPro 180 with a voodoo 2 that lasted for almost 4 years....

Dang I have low standards!

A Matrox Mystique. Got it for free from someone who upgraded to something 3D capable, used it in my Linux box, then moved it down to being the 2nd head on my new Linux box alongside a Radeon 7200, then back out because I got an R7500LE that has dual heads already, and now back into someone else's box as a 2nd head to some Geforce2 card.

Oh, I have an ISA ATi Mach8 accelerated VGA (w/ mouse connector!) in my text-mode-only 486 Linux box, does that count?

My CLV2 12mb SLI. Used it for over 3.5 years before finally retiring it. Had paired even with my GeForce3. Nothing quite like true hardware Glide support for the older games that used it. Finally took it out when I stopped playing Diablo II. The Voodoo2 was and still is, the best product 3dfx ever put out. I still have it on the wall and who knows, it might just get pressed back into service one day.

I've got an old Computer Shopper that states VGA will be a short lived fad.
Explains that since the industry is driven by business, and business has invested ton's into 16 color EGA, EGA will stay for good.
Pretty cool.

Also glancing at ads shows that PC prices really never change.
About $1000 would get you a nice modern machine.
286-12 with the latest and greatest 720k, 3 1/2" floppy (sorry, no MFM HardDrive), and 640k memory (monitor not included)!!!!
Sony Laser Library 1x external CDRom option, add $600 (I actually bought it way back then).

I had a number nine S3 Trio in my pentium 75 (OCed to 90) that lasted me for ages. It's still going in my dad's office as far as i know. I loved that card. It had 2MB of RAM which was double to norm in those days. I thought it was the greatest thing ever because my Amiga only had 2MB RAM total!!

my Elsa Gladiac 920 Geforce 3 card..

how long has the Geforce 3 been out? I'm wanting to say I've had this card over a year now..

I slapped some Thermaltake heatsinks on it, and a Blue Orb.. and have been running with a modified bios running at 200/500 since.
