As you may know or may not or care or may not or bite my ass or may not...last night I posted a thread, this one about my failed attempt to get wireless networking up and running.
I had said I was going to run a cable, and I just finished. It's not the proper way, I.E. wallplates on either side etc, b/c this is an apt and I'm not investing that kind of time.
I punched a hole (with a 12" long screwdriver) thru both walls in the corner of the room (luckily, I have a stud finder so it was easy to ensure I didn't try to poke the unpokeable) and snaked the cable thru. It's about a 50 foot run.
Embarassingly, terminating the cable was the bitch part. 😱 I have a cable tester and for some reason, I just couldn't get one end right. 5 tried later and I've got a working cable. 🙂 I used those hammer-on, coaxial staples to run the cable along the baseboards in both rooms and voila!!!! Totally secure LAN connection from the switch to the HTPC. 🙂
Feel free to say "Hooray for you."
