The BULK thread

So, we need to settle on this definition since we have different view points on what BULK is, depends on the substance or object. Hopefully this will put to rest any and all doubts on the use of the word BULK for this forums.

I'll go first with rice, I think anything over 100 kilo is consider bulk as it'll take me probably a year to eat that much rice.

you eat 220 pounds of rice in a year? holy schnikes!

# majority: the property resulting from being or relating to the greater in number of two parts; the main part; "the majority of his customers ...
# the property of something that is great in magnitude; "it is cheaper to buy it in bulk"; "he received a mass of correspondence"; "the volume of exports"
# stick out or up; "The parcel bulked in the sack" -->
# the property possessed by a large mass
# bulge: cause to bulge or swell outwards -->

I generally consider something bulk if it's in a quantity that isn't intended to be sold directly to the end user or are for commercial use.

Examples:
50LB bags of rice. They're meant for a restraunt.
10 packs of HDs. They're meant to be integrated into systems
Quarters of a cow. They still need to be processed and will last a family a damned long time.
Barrels of motor oil. They're meant to have a pump attached to feed into cars.

depends on what it is. 10 lb of platinum would be bulk. 10 lb of beef is not.

10LBs of beef jerky might be 🙂

Well, I am talking specifically about beef. Not beef jerky. I guess 10lb of beef jerky could be considered bulk.

I think this may be a good formula

Average retail amount x 100 = Bulk

This scales pretty well with different products.

Say for milk 1 gallon iis the average retail purchase. So 100 gallons of milk would be Bulk milk.

For beef jerkey lets say the average retail is 8 oz. then Bulk would be 800 oz or 50 lbs.

Lets say the eaverage retail for beef is 2 lbs of beef. then bulk would be 200 lbs of beef which is clearly larger than an alternator.

Average retail for alternator is 1 alternator. Bulk would be 100 alternators.
