spoilerish

there's been no mention of the 2 "controversial" aspects of the movie: the timeline that intertwines with the Bourne Supremacy and Bourne's (possible) previous relationship with Nicky Parsons.

SPOILER ALERT

Yes from my readings at IMDB, it is generally accepted that the phone call scene with Bourne looking into Landy's office they are they are suppose to be the exact same scene but with the contunity messed up ( phone vibrates in 3rd one, rings in second; its summer'ish in 3rd one, winter'ish in 2nd one; etc. ). Thus most of the movie takes place before the ending of the 2nd. However those big time errors/flaws leave the window open for it being 2 separate scenes.

Yeah, saw it Saturday, absolutely loved it. I don't think the shaky cam was as bad, and from what I remember, it was used a lot in chase scenes, but in the close-quartered hand-to-hand fighting scenes, it was pretty still. I might go see it again.

As for the possible relationship with Nicky Parson's, it's pretty obvious what she was suggesting in the movie, but they never really touch upon it again.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****
They even use very similar angles when she's dyeing her hair, as compared to the original scene with Marie. They also look quite similar...go figure.

TOO. MUCH. FRIGGIN. SHAKY. CAMERA!! It was forced, and I absolutely detested that part of the movie. Other than that, the movie was great. I did like the aerial shots of the cities. that was very cool.

saw it, liked it, and the shaky-cam doesn't bother me at all. also, the preview for the remake of the '3:10 to yuma' looked pretty good.

If I remember correctly, in the 3rd movie when he was in NYC, it was winter time as well. It even said Enero on the calendar in Madrid.

Ohhh and as I expected, there was Moby playing right at the end of the movie and now that song (after watching all three) is stuck in my head.

Good movie though!

I would like to see it, but only if they hang and castrate whatever dipstick decided to film the action sequences in two with a hand cam. Rendered the entire film unwatchable and royally pissed me off.

Did they correct this error in Ultimatum at least?

I was going to comment on this but I didn't want to violate the "SPOILER" issue, but to me it is certainly left open for another movie or it can end here...we'll have to wait and see.

Was this one filled with "shaky cam" scenes that made half the audiences of Bourne 2 running for the garbage can?

yes it was, just like one and two, I guess its the way the director likes to do them. It doesn't bother me at all.

One and two were entirely different filming styles. Watch them back to back some time. First movie, incredibly awesome. Second movie, complete crap due to filming techniques.

Please put spoiler in your post. I almost posted the same thing, but this may give something away for those who haven't seen the movie yet. The OP mentions no spoilers.

I really hope they dont disgrace the series/books by making a 4th movie. Im gonna go see the new one tonight, and hopefully its as awesome as the last two.

Ummm....the books were a disgrace to themselves. The farther you progressed into the story the more you had to put up with rambling bullshit and convenient plot occurrences.

that's blasphemy, the characters were much better developed in the book (for the obvious reasons). i thought that the movies are good in their own ways.

Yup. I thought the books were excellent. of course, by that time I had learned to keep a notebook in when I'd read a Ludlum book so I could note the page on which characters first appeared. I loved his intricate plots. There's plenty of easy reading out there, but it isn't nearly as satisfying.

This was pretty good, as any of them. I hate the way they get turned onto action/adventure movies, and the camera work is obnoxious. It's like they have to use jumpy shooting then edit it faster than we can see because that's easier than having every frame and every edit count. Typical overblown Hollywood BS.

*(Kind of) spoiler quote and talk below*

"Where's Bourne!?"
"He drove a car off the roof, sir..."

I loved that part 😛. I also enjoyed the part when he calls Noah just to get his voice to open the safe. But when it comes to the shaky-cam, I only ever find it annoying during fights, because I can never see what happening half the time, which can be irritating.

Shaky cam gets irritating at times. But I feel mostly cheated during the fight scenes. Let me experience a real fight scene the way it's supposd to be, of high quality, from start to finish in one panning motion.

Confirmed. It wasn't quite as bad as the second, but it certainly wasn't as good as the first.

I think the director likes using fast-moving, unstead cameras to make the fight and chase scenes better... It works, but at the expense of totally comprehending what's happening. I feel as though I get cheated out of seeing a REAL fight scene when those are over with...I only saw the punches and a eventually a dead guy, but never got to see the big picture as it happened.

As for the movie...no spoilers, but I give the ending a 6.5 out of 10. They should have had about 5 more minutes to tie things up a little better. I wasn't happy with a certain suspense scene...it was weak.

Screw the shaky camera. No chance in hell that I'll watch it now, which is to bad because its a good story.

man. i've seen all three but only after intense pressure to watch them from the Mrs. I didn't watch the first one first because I don't care much for Matt Damon. So I watched the second a couple years ago and then watched the first. we saw the latest one in the theatre on Friday.

never until I came here did I hear whining about shaky camera 😛

yeah, the whining about the shaky cam is absurd. if you have motion sickness issues, i have some sympathy. otherwise, it's a stylistic choice that lends the film a gritty realism. i came out of the fights/car chases feeling battered and bruised even though i was just sitting in my seat. i think that's brilliant.

The camerawork was just as bad, perhaps worse, than the supremacy camerawork. There was one scene where he was bent over slightly, and the camera was shaky, AND they cut to different angles of just him leaning / bending about 5 times. During scenes where a still camera would have made the action scenes incredible, they made them totally mundane by shaking and cutting constantly. I really, really hated the camerawork in this film.

The plot was ok. Seems like Bourne has wolverine-like healing abilities. At least he had 6 weeks to recover at some point in the film. But other times he would get blown up, into major car accidents, etc. and still be able to run halfway across manhattan and get into a major gun, fist, and vehicle battle without a problem.

It was good as an action film, I guess, but the camerawork and constant jumping around really detracted from the film. There were a couple of scenes where I literally couldn't figure out what was happening due to the camerawork. I couldn't help but think back to children of men, and how its long shots of action scenes really made them more involving, emotional, etc. This film was the exact opposite. Constant disarray and little emotional involvement because it was just too frantic and did not give us time to soak anything up.

Good movie though!

he got it backwards, its summerish in Supremacy (the 2nd movie) where you see leaves on the trees still and winterish in Ultimatum (3rd movie) where there is snow and ice on the ground. However, while the 2nd movie ends with that scene, we only see him walking away and it appears to be summerish, but when we see him walking away it might not have been after that scene...

At any rate, they just tried to tie the two movies together as well as possible...each of the first two movies ended in a way where that could have been the end of the Bourne movies and that made it tough when 2 and 3 otherwise would fit together extremely well

i saw the movie today and i would say it is the best movie this summer that i have watched. Shaky cam is annoying but i tolerated it since it was such a good movie.
