Today is iPad 2 day. People are once again lining up to buy Apple's latest new shiny toy. Why? What does Apple get right that other tablet vendors don't? We're going to talk about this release as well as how Google, Microsoft, HP, and RIM are faring in this new market.
As usual, we have two expert guests. First in the studio, Josh Lowensohn, our CNET News Apple reporter, freshly back from braving the line at the downtown San Francisco Apple store.
Joining us via Skype from Raleigh, N.C., Anand Shimpi, founder of the great tech analysis site AnandTech.

I love listening/reading Anand's stuff, it's like he's from the future :)

Thanks for that link. Good to be reminded that our glorious leader is still a cool guy who knows his stuff.

He nailed how Apple gets it's magic, they control the hardware and software.

Like he said, so HP/Dell/Asus/Toshiba/Lenovo has a great hardware idea & can't implement it because they don't control the OS, Microsoft essentially dictates what they can bring to market...

Thanks for the link, nice to see the man in action. The CNET News Apple reporter dude looks like a typical trendy Apple douche.

Oh wow, I forgot people get old.... not just me.

I remember seeing an old picture of him looking like a skinny dork with full hair back in the lurker days.

Now's he's gone fully bald and sporting a trendy glasses. Old but no more dorky looking.

I wiki'd him and he's 1982? WTF younger than me but looks like he's 40. :\

I always like Anand's reviews of things because he's one of the last reviewers that can still give an objectionable review of things. Even if he loves what a company does he still has no problem pointing out every fault of a product.

Microsoft tablets failed because they didn't create a whole new OS for it which we know putting a skin on a desktop OS never works. Plus, mobile processing power wasn't good enough back then, too hot, and too power hungry for the size. Now that everyone is creating tablet specific OS's, it's a much better experience and the hardware is powerful enough and less power hungry to make it possible.
