Err... wasn't there a book already out when the movie was out? I can swear that I saw it... maybe even read it! lol :)

Or uh.. were you asking if we could actually clone some dinosaurs... if that's your question then the answer is pretty much yes and no. I believe I saw a while ago when Jurassic park was so big that they had some scientists look at it and they said that we may have advanced too far in science to be able to do this... but it'd probably be possible. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be around when they did it tho... you saw what happened when the power went out. :p

Another edit: So you finally made the topic make sense huh? In that case I point you to the 2nd part of my answer. ;)

It is possible but we just aren't going to see it in our life time.

Scientists are trying to clone Mamooth (i think i spelled wrong) right now and it will take at least 60 years to do that. Because you can't simply put a sperm into current elephant's stomach and get a mamooth right away. It takes years to reproduce and reproduce to so each new generation will have More characteristic of the Mamooth.

I thought I saw where some Japanese scientists were trying to see if they could bring back Mastedons. They were going to try and clone one from a frozen one that was discovered in Russia and have an elephant be it's host. Don't know if it ever happened, I think there was a show about it on the Discovery Channel.

I saw the special on Discovery channel. I think that experiment is underway. Genetic engineering. A great career field. :)

from what i know, it's just impossible. if you're just relying your knowlege solely on the novel/film they mislead you by telling you how to do it. but the problem is that, in order to recreatea dinosaur we need the full strand of dna, which we don't have, even though we use the latest dna extraction process. in jp they tell you that you can replace the missing dna parts using frog dna.....i mean come....how the heck is this even possible.....and who can tell that a frog is similar to a dinosaurs???, maybe just a few of the hundreds of thousand of dna parts, but not all the missing ones. this is not good enough to complete a authentic strand, which will cause genetic problems, diseases, etc. even though dinosaur recreation was possible using the lastest cloning technology similar used to clone dolly (they used a procedure called "nuclear transplantation" to literally fuse together the dna strand to an emptpy egg) the technology is still in its premature level, where experiments showed that there are less than a 1% success rate. so i highly doubt they'll be cloning dinosaurs anytime soon if possible. just my thoughts....
anywas, i'll love to ride a raptor as my pet :)

well, actually someplace i heard that like at least more than half of the dna (or was it like 80%) of all dna on the planet is identical, but in dna, 50-20% is immense. but also what about the familiarity of dino's and chickens?? i could see the mamoth, seeing as how they have access to frozen, not petrified, or possibly decayed dna. maybe they'll find a frozen dino in the ice some time. . . . that'd help.
