The Blue Man Group/Intel conspiracy...

I'll admit, I'm a big fan of the color blue, however, this ad campaign brings me headache after headache trying to figure it out. So far, there has been nothing dealing with the performance and or new features of the p4, and the antics of said group have nothing to do with computing...or digital media...or anything remotely resembling any connection to processing at all...

Can anyone explain the theory behind this amazingly ambiguous and incomprehensible ad scheme, I'm at a loss for conceiving possible reasons.

What don't you understand?

And what is this conspiracy you so inanely spoke of?

I think the Intel commercials are good. Better than the typical average commercial that pisses people off.

In case you haven't realized it yet, Intel is huge, and making commercials however they want, won't hurt them at all!

Since when have ads had to make sense and actually show the performance of the product?

What do the Bud "Frogs" commercials have to do with their product? In those commercials you wouldn't even see a bottle of beer. Where is it that advertising has to say something about the product? In my opinion, ads are better when they don't spit out specs about how wonderful their product is. All they have to do is get you to know their product. As for Intel, most people know who they are. All their ads have to do is keep their name out there. Coca-cola clearly beats Pepsi in sales, but they are probably the most advertised soft drink. This way they keep their name out there and hold onto their position.

What I am confused about, is that there is absolutly nothing about computers or processing in these commercials. How can you advertise something when you won't say anything about the product in question.

The conspiracy is what I want to know about. Why have they conspired to create this marketing campaign? Does the BMG know that they look completely rediculous endorsing a product in such a manner as to confuse people...or possibly, that Intel believes consumers are so stupid that they'll buy anything as long as they saturate advertising channels with a name brand and funky music.

I like the BMG, but I think Intel is unfairly exploiting them.

I guess you're right. I'm not as passionate about beer and beverages as I am about comp hardware, so I didn't make that connection.

But at least the one AMD ad I've seen talked about how it beat Intel, so I have more respect for them.

You have more respect for them because they said they beat Intel in an ad or because they actually do it? If it's just because they say it in an ad, then I must ask you this. Why should Intel lose your repspect because they can't say they are better than AMD? Or rather because they don't?

I meant I have respect for them because they can actually claim some advantage over competitors and deliver on those ads. They don't have to resort to cheesey ads about nothing. Their product is superior and that is their point. The BMG ads are pointless. AMD can actually inform potential consumers, while Intel only has brand name recognition and...well, thats about it apparently.

If AMD claimed such advantages over a rival product and they were false, then I wouldn't have respect for them. Simply saying you are better in some way and not backing it up(which current and subsequent reviews online and in print did) is just wrong and pathetic. (Although, politicians can do these things without much legal problems...but that's besides the point)

As for being a nef, I really don't see where I've done something retarded. If you can point something out to me that refutes my claim, I'll be sure to rectify it.

Red Dawn,

So Intel is banking on the supposition that the public will buy their product just because it's Intel? I hope the public figures out this scheme, if they haven't already. Thanks for helping me figure this out a bit.

Good day.

<< The only way they could do that would be to show what the P4 is capable of doing that the P3 and the TBird isn't. Unfortunately there isn't anything. >>

<< Personally I think the P4 is still a prototype and the only reason that Intel is selling it in the form it is now is due to them being out marketed and out teched by AMD. >>

I just didn't feel like typing.:D

Blue Man Group are a real group of artists who use invented and unique instruments combined with body movement and ordinary objets to make some really neat music. A buddy of mine got me interested in them after he saw them live in Boston a while back. Good album, but an amazing live show I hear.

Anyway, I knew of them before the commercials started, so I was surprised to see them on Intel's ads. The music for the ads is thiers too, BTW.

Unfortunately, I think that in an attempt to get better exposure through Intel's ads, they have inadvertantly become intertwined with Intel - being better known now for the ads than for music...
