maybe they just look bigger than they really are

they look closer than they are

like when you look in the rearview mirror of your car and objects appear closer than they are

haha, didn't know you were in KC. I'm downtown, and right next to a big window. it's really reducing my productivity.

There was an airshow that was at the ex-AFB that is across the street from my apartments. People could go down to the end of the runway (where they are building houses) and watch them turn around low enough that you were looking into the top of the plane, and it looked like you could hit them with a well thrown rock. Definately less than 500'. Probably closer to 150-200 feet up and they were turning within about 800 feet away from me. It was sweet.
shens. unless they were building 35 story apartments.

They do bank when they turn.

there is no way that A) the aircraft were flying at 150-200 feet nor B) within 800 feet laterally of any structure taller than they were flying.

you either have poor judgement of distance or are exaggerating.

don't know about at the AFB, but there are apartment towers on top of the bluff across the river from the downtown kc airport, and i used to be able to get to the top. they would fly over that thing with in a couple hundred feet, fing awesome, made you duck instinctively. even though 200 feet is a good distance it doesn't seem that way when your talking about an f-18.

it was cool to watch them when they were practicing in chicago. it was a trip watching them fly around downtown and all the tall buildings.

They weren't BELOW me. They were banked at atlease a 75 degree degree angle during thier sharp turns, and were close enough that you could see inside the canopy from the ground.
