The birthers are at it again

Were not racist we just love to have them. Maybe this would be a good campaign slogan. Really close to the truth. When are you guys just going to give this stuff up? Think she will get any criticism from GOP leadership? Not holding my breath.

“I have doubts that it is really his real birth certificate, and I think a lot of Americans do, but they claim it is, so we are just going to go with that.”

“I think the main thing we can do, whether you agree or not, I don’t think that’s the real issue, the real issue is this November and there’s an election. And you can sue or go to court or try to get [Obama] to prove this or that, but I think that the main thing is if you like him, get out and vote for him in November, and if you don’t like him, don’t vote for him.”

we really need a Wunderlick (sp?) type of test for everyone in Congress - the results would be fascinating

"Ultimately, I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress"

I [more than ever] want to see his college transcripts; I guess that makes me a 'transcripter' and he an obfuscating bullshitter.

Those jerks are like the early Catholics popes that tried to deny the the sun was the center of our solar system. As the proof mounted and became incontrovertible, they claimed the heretics were being fooled by the devil.

No beating that argument when heretics can be burned at the stake easily. And since birthers will accept no level of proof, they have absolute faith in their absolute faith.

But when I even think about it, if Obama's mother was an American citizen, and therefore so was her Son.

As I forgot to mention, of course Obama is also Keynesian, as he has some faith in that scientific economic model, which somewhat beats GOP voodoo economics.

I'm with you on that one. No doubt he attended college(s) and received degrees. I would just like to see how many D's it takes for diploma. Either that or apparently you can get a law degree by majoring in underwater basket weaving.

Anyone still persuing this whole "birther" nonsense is a fucking nutter.

It's fun watching the GOP'ers sidestep the issue though...

I don't care if he's a natural born citizen or not. However, his mother sure was, so he is (as double L pointed out).

In addition to that, I'm not sure who the hell his father is. That should be the real question since he looks nothing like BHO Senior and since he looks a lot like Frank Marshall Davis who was a U.S. citizen.

As long as the media, and in this case also citizens at town hall meetings, continue to ask about it this issue will be around.

Seems to me that in the vast majority of cases it pops up because someone wants the Congressperson to talk about it. Until they learn to avoid the question we'll keep hearing about it because many in the media love it.

The media isn't responsible for the fact that someone believes something stupid. They are at most only responsible for the fact that people know the person believes something stupid. The Congresswoman's stupidity is her own.

True but it's somewhere around 1 on the impact scale. Mostly an embarrassment as I see it.

How many "D"s add up to magna cum laude at Harvard Law?

No one gets D's at Harvard. Major grade inflation well documented. Hell Bush could barley talk and graduated with some honor.

Swiftboating seems to be the most popular sport for the far right chronics that simply refuse to get a grip on reality. It just scares me to think these whackos have the ability and the notion to vote based on the lies that they've rationalized into their own version of what's real.

Well, like the old saying goes, "there is no cure for stupidity".

This section is a great place for scruffy websites and blogs to get free hits. You write any crap and controversial about something in the US today and watch the magic happen. Someone will notice it, log in and make a thread about it here.

I think that's quite apparent given the displayed level of intelligence of both presidents. I'd love to see an IQ score or something other than a subjective, inflated grade though, now that you mention it.

Serious? You can disagree with Obama's policies and call him a failure as a president, but to consider him anything but intelligent and a intellectual heavyweight compared to Bush is laughable.

I consider myself only above average, but have had the privilege of attending a good school and working with some serious brains in Silicon Valley over the last 12 years. It astounds me that so many people have the chops to question the president's intelligence when their own achievements are so small.
