Cysts are terrible. I had a sebaceous cyst about the size of a grape on my back and it started draining (likely after a snowboarding fall), so my doctor cut it out. He shot the area with about four shots of lidocaine but it still felt like a knife stab when he took the capsule out. The worst pain of my life was when the nurse packed it the third (and last) time without using any lidocaine. I can silently deal with pain, but that one made me yell out some choice words.

I had a cyst on my back last year, had it lanced & drained. They also had to pack it. Swear to God I screamed when they pulled that packing out. I was supposed to go for surgery to excise the thing but decided since I already have cancer that enough is enough.

So far it hasn't returned, knock on wood

That was the easy part for me! Getting it pulled out felt incredibly weird but not very painful. The nurse told me he always dips/soaks the packing in iodoform, which allows it to come out easier without sticking; some people don't do that.

For mine I found the first few times they did it it was super painful, the 1st (initial cut/drain) and 2nd time they actually did it right in the ER and froze it. It was that painful. Also, a needle on the butt is particularly not very pleasent either. The nurses felt bad but I told them just do what you have to do, try to ignore my yelling. lol.
