the big lie and brainwashing which is going on

There are people who seriously beleive you need to vote REP and support Bush - otherwise you dont defend "true american values".

Also..there is a notion currently brought up that the REPs/Bush supporters are the ones with MORALS - whilest the DEMs are not.

Also..there are assumptions made that only REPs and Bush supporters believe in GOD whilest the other side (DEMs) obviously does not.

a) DEMs and liberals AS WELL defend (and often stand for) "American Values"....being it believing in our system of justice, punishment of criminals, believing in hard work and similiar...expression of your own freedom....what USUALLY is seen as "american values".

If you think the REPs came up with that and have ownership - you are BRAINWASHED.

b) DEMs and Liberals have morals, too. DEMs think that certain wars MIGHT be immoral, certain action against minorities, intolerance is immoral etc and they think that some actions of the REPs are immoral. They have CERTAINLY a moral.

c) DEMs certainly might visit their church too and belief in God, if they desire/believe.

The current brainwashing looks like its intended to further divide the country into two sides, ONE side is immoral and unpatriotioc, the OTHER side has moral and is "American".

The brainwashing is that they want you to believe that the DEMs/Liberals are "NON true Americans" and people with NO MORALE.

I haven't heard a single red-stater say bad things about you blue-staters without having been directly insulted first, and that situation is definitely not reciprocated by their opposites. You should save your lecture for someone who needs it, like your Democratic colleagues who seem to think they exhibit great wit in calling red state residents stupid, uneducated, racist, homophobe, brainwashed redneck hicks because we didn't vote the way you thought we should.

OP... doesn't compute... wait, analyzing..... failure.... overload..................need more directives.....brainwashed, arhgg!

The accuracy of your description has nothing to do with the way you vote. That's only the result.

Hmmm, If the shoe fits comes to mind.

Well, I am none of those, and more than likely have more education than Dave here. I voted Bush for President and I voted for a Democrat (Gordon) for House. The Democratic party has gone way left of where I want to be and if I have to make a choice between extreme liberalism or extreme conservatism then there really is no choice. I'm comfortable with how things are in my life today, so why would I choose liberalism?

That is obvious to any human being. You would be at least as concerned about the welfare of others as you are about yourself. Implicit and unspoken in your comment is that you got yours through education, hard work, and capacity and that there is inherent justice in that. You feel that way because you actually feel inferior. Thus instead of having humility, grace, and gratitude that you live in an environment built by the labor of others that made it a possibility for you to be a success, you are full of smugness and self-preening and self-satisfaction that 'you got yours' because you're disciplined and better and paid the price of self discipline and self sacrifice.

I find great humor in how many Liberal and Conservatives think that the other side are the only ones with rediculous thought processes and beliefs.

The OP made it sound as though Conservatives are the only ones that think they are the ultimate correct ones. His post alone proves that it is a Liberal view also...

That makes a lot of sense considering I voted for both a Republican and a Democrat. Did I mention that I'm a registered Democrat? Sorry my man but your party has gone way too far to the left for me. That in no way defines me as being smug, arrogant, inferior, etc. Feel free to post again whenever you get out of class, okay?

What makes no sense is calling Democrats too far to the left. They are Republican-lite.

Was I wrong on your attitude toward those who don't work and are looking for a government handout?

What are the American Values that the Dems Stand up for?

Provide examples.

Partial Birth Abortion? How is this a great American Value?

Gay Rights? How is this possibly pro-family?

How about the freedom to practice one's faith in the way that they see fit?

If you are referring to people who are specifically 'looking for a government handout' then no you are not wrong. I have no pity for them and hope they get nothing. On the other hand, if you are referring to someone down on their luck and needing short term help, then I do disagree with you. I have no problem helping someone out, but at some point people need to take care of themselves.

I would disagree with your first statement completely. Rip and Heartsurgeon come to mind, among numerous other right-wing trolls.

The rest? Meh. The brainwashing is real and not hidden. It was pioneered by the Republican marketing research genious Frank Luntz of Luntz Research Company. The technique is simple, proven, and genius. They substitute single words and phrases in such a way as to generate support for the given political agenda. "Global warming" becomes "global climate change". "Estate tax" (which had wide public favor) becomes the "Death Tax" (which is very unpopular despite being the same thing). And hundreds of other ways. I've been aware of this for some time, but Frontline did a very informative (and only moderately biased) episode on this and other forms of modern marketing just the other day called "The Persuaders". I recommend watching it.
The Democrats, of course, have their own marketing, but the Pubs are currently at least a full generation ahead of them.

<- marketing is a part of my job, so it's professional interest

edit: btw, I don't agree with the OP (if only because his point is not very clear), but I will say that I know many Democratic Liberals who are weekly churchgoers. My father, who is extremely liberal, is an avid churchgoer who also (being retired and somewhat wealthy) does volunteer work for the homeless and needy 3 or more days a week. When I talk to him about his volunteer work, it's always about "giving back" and "serving humanity", etc.

I'm confused by this statement. Who is interfering with your freedom to practice your faith? And how are they doing it?

You do understand that your right to free religious practice and expression does not extend to controlling other peoples' lives, right?

Thanks for pointing out that homosexuals can't be part of a family, is this a republican value because it's sure the hell not an American value. Last I noticed, ignorance, fear and bigotry were not listed 😉

Last I noticed, ignorance, fear and bigotry were not listed

Looks like an IFB violation!

As we've seen in many threads, the people who have articulated good arguments against homosexual marriage are not IFB offenders.

Speak for yourself! I'm no stranger to the plethora of "Gay Marriage" threads here lately and I can tell you right now that I haven't seen one good argument 'against' Gay Marriage.

I don't know that Repubs are a generation ahead in the propaganda dept, Vic, but they've definitely raised emotional framing of issues to an artform, and induced a form of denial in the minds of many of the voting public.

We really are interfering with some folks free exercise of religion, those who'd bring back stoning for adultery and public burning of heretics, along with a lot of other quaint old testament practices... terribly repressive...
