The best TV out card out there?

I'm looking for the best card that will give me good TV out capabilities, so I can play games on my Sony big screen. Right now, I've tried my GeForce II GTS pro, which tops out at 800x600 for TV out, and it looks crappy. I'd really appreciate everyone's opinion on which card to upgrade to, preferably under $200....I'm running a 1.2 mhz AMD thunderbird with 684 MB.

The Radeon's have the best TV-Out I would say. My GF4 MX440 tops out at 1024x768 so it looks a bit better but not great....helps if you have a decent TV really!

Well, the thing is, I have a really nice TV. It's a Sony 53" projection HDTV. My concern is, since it is a big screen TV, any and all video imperfections are going to be magnified...BIG TIME!

So, I've heard that ATI cards are the best when it comes to TV out. Now, is this simply due to better output resolutions or are there other factors at play here? I know the GF4 440 card has a 1024x768 TV out mode, but I'm really not too happy with everything I've been reading about the GF4 line of cards.

So, if I do go with ATI, which card, and will I be sacrificing quality on the computer itself, when I'm using my usual monitor?

my friend told me the 9700 pro has the best tv out. but that's a tad over $200 maybe the 9500?

The best 2d picture quality in my opinion is still found on matrox g400 or parhelia products. Especially if you use a scart cable for RGB output.

There are however other problems with the g400 at least. Like choppy playback and cropped images.. and wrong screensize .. and matrox's totally BS support that will drive you crazy.

If you can manage to overcome these problems he g400 has great picture quality.

UncleWai has probably the best idea for your budget. I'm using component out on my AIW 9700 to my Phillips widescreen for gaming, and its a good bit better than s-video output of my old AIW 7500 even at similar resolutions. As a bonus, with a DVD Rom, your computer would make a nice progressive scan DVD player for your Sony display.
