The best set of speakers: Power VS. Sound Quality

I have been researching speakers for a while, and it has only gotten me more confused.

From what I have read, if I want pure power, nothing beats the Klipsch Promedia 4.1. But how about sound quality?

Are there any other set of speakers that costs about the same as the Klipsches, but better sound quality?

They have damn good sound quality. Look at the THX certification.

The 5.1's are coming out with a bigger sub and 5.1 inputs instead of 4-channel inputs.

Speakers are very subjective, so you need to listen to your options and decide for yourself.

When I selected mine, I was set on the Klipsch. divinemartyr convinced me to give the Boston Acoustics BA-4800's a shot first. I thought to myself, "Alright, since I'll be at the hi-fi store, I'll listen to them before I pick up the Klipsch." About 30 minutes later, I left the store with the BA's. I just think they are warmer and more accurate, and that was more important to me than exagerrated bass and sheer volume.

Like I said, that's MY opinion, and others' will vary.

THX certification for multimedia speakers tell you nothing about the quality.

its entirely subjective. go get a couple of sets at a store with a good return policy, set them up, listen to the same stuff with each, try to model what you would listen to. buy whichever you feel sounds best given price.

IMHO, Altec Lansing ADA890s all the way!! (These are identical to the ADA885s that come with Dell systems.) The bass doesn't have as much kick as the Klipschs, but they sound beautiful.
