The best Physics in a game..

Which one you think is the best game with the best physics...?

or did you know any mod that takes a game and add it some nasty physics.. specially in explotions!!! like exploding a bomb and everything around fly away?

I love the physics in Unreal Tournament 3 (or generally speaking the physics in the UE3 engine), but sadly they're barely used outside of the physics for the character's body (and vehicles). For actual game-play features which can potentially affect the course of battle and/or adventure I would simply have to go with Crysis / Warhead.

I'm not sure if both engine (UE3 and CryEngine) actually use Havok, but if they do it must be used differently (I prefer the character body physics and gravity effects in Unreal Tournament 3, but I prefer the vehicle and environmental physics in Crysis, it's visually and effectively acting differently). But saying which game uses the "best" physics is very tough, they all have their advantages and disadvantages I'd presume.
 
I still haven't seen anything that struck me as making better use of physics than Half-Life 2 and episodes. Others may have been more technically impressive I guess, but I don't care about that. I actually noticed the physics in Half-Life 2 and used them to my advantage all the time during the game.
 
Crysis and Far Cry 2. The Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter games had some pretty good physics in terms of realism, but nothing that substantially adds to the gameplay.

Dunno about Crysis but UT3 have support for Physx i mean the engine... and yeah Crysis is awesome... when you explode those little huts lol... or crash a vehicle on it with the turbo... lol

Far Cry 2 feels a bit crappy, maybe the word is medrocre... because not a lot of stuff fly around in explotions... is a bunch of fire ok... but not much objects like in crysis... if there is a mod for far cry 2 that makes everthing flyable in explotions let me know PLZ!!!!

The Gravity Gun makes a whole diference in the game physics... with out it physics wont even be noticed lol...

GG is the best thing around HL... what other game let you have a gun that let you use objects and physics as a GUN! lol...
 

Half-Life 2 gets the nod for the best overall implementation so far. Crysis allows you to do more with physics, but it runs like sludge when a lot of physical objects start to interact. HL2 remained smooth.
 
I like Valve's implementation of them.

No gimmicky proprietary Ageia or nV marketing, just fun to mess with stuff everyone can enjoy, with average hardware.
 
First time I really noticed physics was playing Unreal Tournament, falling down the pit at the end of a bombing ran match and watching my guy fling around bar after bar until landing precariously far below... It was definitely a win.

Is that the map in UT2K4 in where you jump into the the score nest in a bombing run and you fall down to death? into some hole with some strange laser points or something like that...

yea thats the one. Bombing run was a ton of fun on lan.

I always liked the ragdoll physics in Painkiller. Also SoF Payback has some really gory ragdoll physics.

I quite like the PhysX grenade explosions in MoH Airborne too.

And who can forget Geomod in the original Red Faction? Dig your own tunnels FTW!

Except when you couldn't, which was whenever you wanted to.
Red Faction had a lot of good things going for it and could have been an awesome franchise. Its a shame the sequel sucked ass and had nothing to do with the original.

 
How about those 2D physics simulators? I used to play those all the time back in highschool. I would set up dummies with partial or full articulation, and send them through torture machines or sled rides.
 
Half Life 2 might not have the most up to date physics engine, but it's the most well implemented physics engine ever, you can actually use physics and your gravity gun to help you through the game.

(see-saw puzzle anyone?)
