Wattage, efficiency, reliability, price. What would be the best overall power supply out there for the gamer looking to build a solid system?

Corsair's Hx620w and HX520w are probably the two most recommended PSU for the standard gaming setup right now. I think it's a nice blend of price, reliability, quality, and specifications

PC Power & Cooling Silencer Quad 750 if you need more watts/more amps. High-powered, high-quality, and quiet. During testing, they've been shown to output 800+ watts without a problem. The only thing about it is that it isn't modular, which might get annoying...

You forgot noise and functionality (modular).

Depending on rebates EA 500w can't be beat. It's not modular, but that's the only thing I can think of. For a gamer a vx450/550 would do too.
