Best of Bush speak...

The relations with, uhh -- Europe are important relations, and they've, uhh -- because, we do share values. And, they're universal values, they're not American values or, you know -- European values, they're universal values. And those values -- uhh -- being universal, ought to be applied everywhere.
-- Dubya goes "values crazy" in press conference with EU dignitaries, White House, Jun. 20, 2005

Doesn't exactly belong in P&N, this is straigh humor.

yeh, it belongs in P&N. they would enjoy it much more.

funny how when other politicians mispronounce something it doesn't cause such widespread chuckling, but then again some people just get off on potshotting the Prez.

There's a difference between mispronouncing something occasionally because you're tired or nervous and just not having enough intelligence to give a clear speech.

You don't get it. The COUNTRY is dumb. The only intelligent people are a select few elitist liberal enlightened folk inhabiting the coasts. You didn't know that?
EDIT: The above statement was sarcasm. :)

I don't think Bush is a genius by any stretch of the imagination, but that's just a silly statement.

Bush is the best proof that the President is nothing but a spokesperson. He doesn't run anything. The money and powers behind him run this country. He's just a dumb puppet... almost literally.

I'm not gonna debate W's intelligence, but there's no denying he's a horrible speaker. I've seen college freshmen do better with impromptu speaches than he can reading from a teleprompter. And don't forget, behind the President, there's always a number of people likely pulling strings. Just because he's in his second term doesn't mean he's any more intelligent (or a better president) than people before him who've only served one term.

Actually, Bush is proof that a President is anything BUT a spokesperson. He can't speak publicly and cannot relate to people. Yet he's President. Want a spokesperson president? Try JFK.

his supporters aren't dumb either.
and where was it claimed that he was more intelligent or a better President than those before him?
i am disputing those who say he is not intelligent at all. you don't get where he is by not being intelligent. case closed.

American democracy has nothing to do with the intelligence of the actual candidate. I have no problem with mispronouncing "nukular" (well, yes I do, but that's beside the point), but rather, with the fact that Bush can't seem to put together a coherent thought in his head when he's put on the spot.

You're an incredibly fast reader to have read that before replying to it. Or maybe, like most people, you just decided to comment on something you haven't read with your own preconceived notions about it. Hence, your mind is made up and you are not open minded about changing your opinions.

Hence, debating with you is a waste of time.

i am not defending his pronunciation of certain words at certain times, but the majority of his speaking is just fine. you'd think that every word that came out of his mouth was mispronounced by the way the bangwagoners go on and on.

i guess anyone with a true speech impediment better not even attempt to run for Prez, eh?
