I am owner of Intel P3 550E on ASUS P3V4X. What is optimal and stable choice to overclock my processor and with what core voltage?

You'll quite likely get 733 (from 5.5x100+500 to 5.5x133+733). You may get this stable at default voltage of 1.65, but you probably have to up it to 1.70 for rock solidness. If you got decent cooling, this is a good oc.

but you might be able to go higher, oc'ing your pci and agp busses. 750 is very achievable, given good cooling. you may get 800, but htis will requyire more cooling, and your pci and/or agp cards may not like the overlclocked busses, causing system instability (if u go too far, you'll cause damage to your cards and/or motherboard).

but 733, like i said, is a good oc, with everything except your cpu running at spec.

Check my sig. Memory is an important issue here as well as the PCI and video card.

What I did was set eveything to the most conservative settings, started overclocking the CPU to I achieved the highest and most stable setting. Then I started to tweak other settings as well, mostly the memory settings. Right now I'm at 1.75 core with a GlobalWin Vos32 running at 30 C.

I'm running at 809 (147 x 5.5) on a ms6309 at default voltage. Sometimes, I think that all this extra cooling (intake/exhaust fans, card coolers, G-Orb) is all a bit too much considering my CPU never gets hotter than 35 C (I think around 40 w/o all the additional cooling).
