If you are going to get one of those gimmicky, backlight, rubber dome, gaming keyboards just make sure that it's a sidewinder x4. I've heard good things about the X4 and if you look around you can find it at a reasonable price.

If you can find one my suggestion for a great gaming keyboard is my old trusty Logitech G11. I have had mine for years with kids 2-12 in age using it and it still works just fine.

It has cool blue backlit keys(3 different settings), 18 macro keys(54 with 3 different memory buttons), mute/volume buttons, 2 USB connections, and multimedia keys.(play,stop,skip/search etc.)

I can tell you this board has stood up to hell with the kids messing around with it!

Right now I have a Razer Back Widow Ultimate, a Sidewinder X4, and a G510 I am testing. I hate the 510. Its huge & I have to have the wrist rest attached to keep it from sliding around on my glass desktop. The backlighting is very weak as well.

The X4 is nice. My only complaint is the weak backlighting. Not a bad keyboard.

When I first got the Razer I hated it but it has since grown on me & has become my favorite keyboard. I love typing on the mechanical switch keys. Also the backlighting is phenomenal. I do hate the fact that there is no dedicated volume keys, though.

I have the G510...takes a long time to get used to. Those keys on the side (18 programmable) are useless to me...and take up a crapload of space. I LOVE that it can control my Zune software, so I kept it. The LCD screen is nice too.

I have that exact keyboard, I got a refurbished version right when they came out for dirt cheap. Has served me well over the last 2 years, I've subconsciously grown attached to it, but I always wonder how a new keyboard might feel. However, I can recommend this keyboard as a great gaming keyboard.

Steelseries Merc Stealth.

Nice backlight system wich is switchable to red, purple and blue.
A nice macros system which can be adjusted easily with the software.
The keyboard is very sturdy and of a good quality.

This keyboard works great for FPS games and MMO's as the special gaming side of the keyboard is very handy for character movement.

And the macros of this keyboard do indeed work for FPS games.
I press on one key to jump, crouch, knive etc in any order and even set the timing between the actions.

Overall this is a keyboard I highly recommend.

I was in the market for a new keyboard and saw this Thread and this Post caught my attention! After doing some research, I am typing from my Steelseries Merc Stealth and like it very much.

Thanks all:)

just buy yourself a nice apple aluminium keyboard. You can't go wrong with aluminum.

This is the only keyboard i will use. I've had one for many years and would not want any other! 'Gaming' keyboards are invariably cheap, nasty, plastic and gaudy overpriced rubbish. Brushed aluminium with diamond cut edges ftw.

i loved my aurora, but broke it playing games on it. i now use a dinovo edge which has a similar scissor-key action, but i refuse to game with it. i also have a razer lycosa for games, and i recommend people stay away from this piece of overpriced junk.

played with the enermax keyboard, and though it was cool, couldn't hold a candle to the apple aluminium keyboard because it didn't have an apple logo on it :D
