Tetris is the best game ever made.

Simple. Accessible. Appealing to just about every demographic. Infinitely playable.

Other games listed here are great. And I'm sure many are listed for nostalgic purposes (see: Goldeneye). But when your mother, grandmother, boyfriend/girlfriend, and 5-year-old nephew all play a video game for 25+ years - it is the best video game ever.

Tetris has, and will continue to be, re-released on basically every video game platform ever available.

I really think best game ever is terribly subjective. That and that fact that GameFaqs users are made of fail. I mean really, we have huge threads about the only reason Master Chief doesn't win the character battles is because Sony fanboys down vote him... And that one poll asking if you were one of the original 800 and something poll voters had like over 9000 people vote yes. I call crap on them. But the whole GameFaxs April Fools day joke was great awhiel back. That actually pissed off a lot of people I'd bet.

You're probably right, the top 6 spots will end up Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid, and FF7...the games that should truly be top 10 will be 21-30 or so.

MvC: i was always a bigger fan of Capcom vs. SNK personally. i actually saw MvC for the PS2 the other day at gamestop. used. for $70. lol

and i always liked the SNES Mario Kart the most. dunno why, rainbow road was fun!

well, this isn't my top 15 games list, just what i'm nominating, i know games will make it to their poll without me nominating them. but i knew i was forgetting some games, so i figured AT could list some that i was forgetting, and just see what AT likes...

I hope you were joking with Oregon Trail. Yes, I too loved that game back in elementary school, but it really isn't that good of a game if you think about it. We're a bit biased because of all the fond memories we have of that game. The "Best Game Ever" should still be great if we played it today, and I don't think Oregon Trail fits that category.

Also, I'm willing to bet that those of you dissing Halo 1 probably never invested in the multiplayer. It was by far the best multiplayer FPS experience on console, and I still try to LAN Halo 1 every now and then. The subsequent Halos, well, suck ass and should not be anywhere on this list.

Nope, I played MP several times as well, it was fun but nothing even close to an awe inspiring experience.

My criteria: The game has to make me want to play the whole way through it and then go play some more. I am also judging games by its peers rather than across system generations.
