Is when you are working on a scipt for hours and the damn thing just won't run correctly.
Then you finally realize what a moron you've been the whole time and some simple little thing is out of place, and whammo it runs like a champ.

I have just experienced this.

I like it.

Yea.. you know when you're feeling dirty.. and you're just getting all nasty with someone.. and then finally, after getting so filthy with them you go wash the grease off your hands with Goop and start your car up and it runs perfectly after your spent hours putting in a new head gasket?

The best is the feeling you get when you take a big gulp of cold Rogue Chocolate Stout after swallowing a giant chunk of deluxe Pizza from Lou Malnati's.

Either that or when you are fvcking and climax.

That being said, I love beer and I live to eat, so others may not rate the above food and beverage combo so highly.

Uhhh, you think? :)

Honestly, it's close.

I will admit I have had way too much fun writing ksh scripts back in the day ...

Being a programmer myself, I can appreciate your excitement about fixing something that was giving you a hard time, but I can think of a few things that produce a much better feeling!

I currently live in Streamwood and work in Mt Prospect (so NW burbs if you aren't familiar with either town.)

I'm pretty close to you I imagine, I work close to Mt. Prospect as well, we should grab a beer sometime.

Are you the guitar player? I always forget these things from our doomed chicago meet thread :p

I am not really a programmer, but I do my share of flash programming.
This was a flash/XML thingy.

I can't play any instrument worth a damn. (Though I listen to a ton of metal and rock)
That being said, my brother plays every instrument, and I have an uncle that plays guitar in a rock band ..

As far as beer is concerned, that sounds like a plan ...

Is that like watching your favorite team win the Super Bowl from your private 50 yard line luxury box while getting a BJ from the hot wife of the opposing team's QB?

Well, to be honest, I am one of those people who can't stand congested urban areas so I try to avoid the city, I stick to the suburbs where parking is free and there are big parking lots. I hate street parking and I hate paying to park. (But I can deal with it every now and again)

The Yardhouse in Glenview has a HUGE selection of draft beers (as in, biggest selection in all of Illinois), and I hear the food is good too.
http://www.yardhouse.com/

That being said ...
Within the city limits, one of these days I'd love to check out Goose Island's Wrigleyville or Clybourn Brewpub. I haven't been there yet even though I LOVE their beer.
http://www.gooseisland.com/pubs/pubs.asp
(Though I am liable to complain about parking...)

Otherwise, a bit farther West there are two brewpubs in Schaumburg, (Prarie Rock, and The Ram (if it still Exists, The Ram is also in Wheeling & Rosemont or at least it was at one point in time, I am not sure if they are still in business though) and a brewpub in West Dundee (though that may be a bit too much driving as it's out past Elgin)
South Barrington has a couple of brewpubs, Palatine has a brewpub

There are a lot of brewpubs in Illinois, and you're pretty much 100% guaranteed to get good beer at any of them.
