The best CPU for my needs...

I am looking for suggestions for the best Cpu that fits my needs. I play a lot of games ranging from RPGs to First person shooters. I look for about 40 - 60 fps@ 1024x768. The video card that i am going to get is a Geforce DDR 32MB. I also do some moderate 3d modeling. I was thinking a P3 550e@750. Is this good or do I need more/ less? I love AMD but not their motherboards. So if you have any suggestions please give me ideas...

Either P3 600e (much better than 550e for very little more) with Asus CusL2

or

Athlon 800 with Abit Ka7

The Ka7 is a spectacular motherboard. Definately one of the best for overclockers and tweakers. Stablility is excellent so you don't have to worry about motherboard problems.

I would say a 600@800 or 650@866 will do. Plus then it will last a little longer.

Good 650E's are probably easier to find than 550E's or 600E's. Its getting hard to find non-EB P!!!-600's.

If you don't want to go AMD, stick with what you have - only I would also suggest going for the 600-650 as opposed to the 550.
