I am looking to upgrade and have decided i would like to go the tbird/duron route... i am looking at a high end of a tbird 850 and a low of duron 600 i guess, depends on overclockability...
So, the question is, which cpu should i get as the best value for my money, and which is most likely to be the best preformer after overclocking? some ppl say get the duron 600 it'll go to 900+, others say get the tbird 800, its faster that the duron even at 900, and it will overclock too??

help!)

T-Bird 850 will hit 950, maybe 1G. A Duron 700 (week 32 or later) will hit 1G, maybe more. Either way both will be much faster than you will need for most applications.

bang for buck = duron 600 @ 1000 (see sig)
if you're doing something that required a WHOLE lot of cpu power then go with a tbird.

I've got a 800 Mhz Tbird (unlocked via Solder, runs 950 @1.85 48C)using an Alpha Pep66 & Abit KT7 raid.

I'd sell it for $150 (shipped * insured), not really looking to sell it, only if you wanted it, then I'd use the $$$ to purchase another TBird.

But if you looking for the best Bang for the buck($$), the Duron is the CPU for you. :)

Do most the Duron 600 hit 1G? I visited most the overclocking database site and it seemed that the 700s hit 1G more often (that's why I got one). I could be wrong, damn why didn't I get a 600??

thanks, i think im goin with a duron 700 ... only $57 on pricewatch.
but im still unsure about the cooler and whether i should go retail/oem or look for a pretested cpu, or maybe call a company and ask em to look for a certain week #)

also i have no idea how to oc durons/tbirds, i need a conductivity pen maybe? i dunno what that is, heard it thrown around tho... and what kind of thermal paste etc ??
