The best anti-virus program?

I'm going to be getting a new laptop and would like to install some good anti-virus software and firewall software. What are the best most unobtrusive programs out there?

I remember some years ago that I was running Norton Systemworks, and that really took over my pc.
I was running Panda recently too and that seemed to bog my system down a little.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Do a search in Software...you'll find plenty of advice on the subject.

This might help

I use EZTrust AV, and it works pretty good and doesn't seem to use a lot of system resources. I doubt it's the best, though...I got it free last year with a year of free virus updates.

Another bump for EZTrust. 🙂

Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Updated: 30-07-2004:
756 Possible Viruses/malware/Trojans Found in 750 files out of a total of 758 files!
Approximately 98.94% detection. (Based on number of infected files, not number of infections)

If you need something light with decent protection, AVG free edition. What other AV can you configure to only take up 1.5MB of ram with no systray residents or stuff like that?
