most people would say Klipsch..the new logitechs seems okay too. Digitheater DTS is an option that will be recommended as well.

personally for the amount of money these things cost, I'd rather go get a home-theater-in-a-box setup that comes with a receiver as well. I've got an old Yamaha one (no dolby digital decoder) and it works better than any set of computer speakers I've heard.

If you asked a month ago I would say Klipsch if you have the money, but look at the new logitechs, those look pretty sweet!!!!

keep in mind there's a low end 5.1 system called the 640s....and a high end one called the 680s. The 640s are < 100 bucks and the 680s are about $399.

yeah I'm looking for a bit higher than the 40's... I wish they had a medium... its such a drastic difference.

I have the sound blaseter live 5.1

If I got some 5.1 speakers, is there a special way to hook them up???

Also, where can I learn about dolby digital, DTS and all of the sound stuff. What do I need to get these things.

Whats the difffernce between all of these things.

The logitechs don't utilize a seperate midrange / tweater design as do the Klipsch speakers. People go nuts over the large sub and don't care about accuracy in the high end. lol

Although i would say the Klipsch are no where near accurate and the high crossover point between the sub and satelites drives me nuts but what do you expect for computer speakers?

Unless you wanted to get something like this: http://www.paradigm.com/Website/SiteReferenceProduct/RModels/SystemChoice/Studio100System.html

the new logitechs by far if you want a 5.1
i use the logitech z560s and i think the tweeter/midrange speaker sounds as good as the two seperate speakers in the klipsch 5.1s, maybe not hit quite as high (more like shrill) but amazingly loud and clear. the bass no contest, logitech all the way. i find myself turning down the bass all the time.. so theres plenty in reserve for anyone who likes bass... cuz i do!

klipsch is overrated and i feel your paying for the name.. they just arent engineered as well as the logitechs. im no speaker expert but i dont know how else to explain it.. go to best buy and crank both.. you'll see what i mean. i think its because klipsch doesnt have as much raw power (the dual 8inch woofers in the klipsch dont thump as hard as the single 8inch logitech sub).

i got my z560s months ago for $140 shipped... yeah thats a killer deal considering the closest competition for computer speakers is the 4.1 klipsch, which they outperform and the 5.1 dont beat the z560s either IMO and they are hundreds more.

logitech speakers are the best buy on the market for any computer peripheral.

Most important thing is if you like them. I personally like the Klipsch a lot more since, I'm not into big bass bumping. The Klipsch tends to have better highs. The seperate tweeter helps a bunch. Alot of people like the Logitechs and they do sound pretty good especially for there price but, I find the bass way too much. Even when I turn the bass all the way down I find it a bit to intrusive. But, really you'll want to take a listen since audio is so specific to each individuals.

I like my logitech Z560's. Yes, I know they're 4.1, but I'm just putting in my opinion. I have no problem with the highs, but I havn't listened to the klipsch set much at all, so I can't really say that the 560's are just as good as the promedias.
