AUO Panel Dell 1905FP. The Samsung panel is also good but the brightness isn't as good and it has a higher response time.

LoL. The L90 is just a friggn Samsung 930B panel. I don't get why you guys can recommend this panel. Sure it's a fast panel, but the colors are DISGUSTING.

1) It's bright. Even if you turn it down, it's still quite bright. TOo far down and you lose colors.
2) Colors are washed out
3) Crayolaish colors

Only benefit is no ghosting at all

The VP191b was reviewed by Toms and it was one of the best panels. Colors are brilliant, and its a great all around panel. 8ms gray to gray, 20ms black to white, but if you look at the avg measured, it hovers around 13 - 14ms. If you REALLY try to look for ghosting, you can find it, but otherwise its not noticeable. Most people will tell you there is no ghosting on this panel.

I have had the 930B and the VP191b SIDE BY SIDE. 930B = L90, so no point in trying a 3rd.

http://www.montavista04.com/dmo/comp/154_5418.JPG (Sorry I couldn't find the photo where both monitors were on the same BG and screen). Left = Viewsonic, Right = Samsung.)

You can read my 930B vs VP191b review somewhere here on the forums and I believe someone else did a comparison. Both our comparisons resulted in the Viewsonic being the winner.

I've never heard of this "Tom's" you speak of. Is it one of those l33t hardware review sites?

Haha

Tom's Hardware is like the guys at CompUSA. You can never be too sure of how much they actually know.

Tom himself is actually extremely smart. However, it is common knowledge that he is able to be bribed to write reviews slanted in favor of one company. His staff are another story. Most of them no absolutely nothing, and are horrible reviewers.

I would read an article read by Tom, but i would definitely think twice before taking anything in that article to heart.

1280x1024 and best gaming LCD is almost an oxymoron.

gaming is sensory immersion that ollows you to engage in escapism at its best.

a 5:4 aspect ratio can therefore be seen as anti-fun.

5:4 ratio makes the screen really square. Not that great. 4:3 is better, but you just can't beat widescreen. However, a 20" widescreen IMO is worse than a 19" 5:4 because a 20" widescreen is only as tall as a 17" 4:3. Not that great. I guess if its your first panel, the 20" widescreen is cool, but I say a 24" WS really changes things. It's the same height as 19", but oh well.

Anyways, I still pick the VP191b. Even if you guys don't trust Toms for that, I have done the review myself side by side.... TN panels are fast, but they suck. It hurts to even look at the 930B for more than 30 min.

I don't like the 930B because you can't adjust it and it's defaultly too bright. If I could buy the VP191B at compusa, I would in a god damned heartbeat. I only buy monitors B&M though, thanks to a long history of problems.

My 930B has a bad backlight as well, but I don't see any point in returning it for another 6bit panel. If anyone knows of an 8bit panel with good response time that they sell at compusa, please let me know. I've got carry in warranty.

For Gaming ....Samsung 19" LCD 930BF Black 4ms

If you also wanna watch movies on your LCD you may want to opt for a 12ms panel you get better colour and view angle.
