The BEEP codes! What does one REALLY long beep mean? Ok-- now what? :-(

Putting together a hodge-podge Celery system and I get one really long beep (reapeating).

I have:
HDD spin
Fan spin
Power LED light
Clicking noise (like when it does RAM check)
NO video at all (vid card IS in properly)

System specs:
64mB RAM from CompUSA
AZZA BX motherboard (AT-form factor)
Slotket w/ Celeron 366
Diamond v550 TNT 16mB AGP
Sohoware 10/100 NIC
Serial mouse
AT keyboard
 
sounds like the proc is not set right or the memory.

One way to test is take out everything execpt video, memory, proc, keyboard, monitor connected.
Power up..if it give that.
take out the video card
power up
.. see if it gives that code.
take the memory out.
power up and see the code.

if not recheck processor.

Look at your manual for the mobo for the codes.
 
I would think it is either your memory or your video card. Have you tried installing the memory in different banks? Are you absolutely sure your video card is seated properly? Dunno what else could be the problem.

ARGH! (I've never seen this mobo boot (just bought it), so I don't know the bios) I assum it is award/ami

I tried all three slots with a known good stick of RAM.
 
hehe, look at the chip or manual...seat the memory good, I've had memory clip in but not be all the way seated...my asus board take 100 pounds of force to get the dang memory in 🙂
 
Is it one long continuing beep? If it is, then it could be the ps or system board. You said it was a hodge podge system. Do you know what kind of condition all the parts are in, or are they new parts? Have you tried reseting the bios?
 
Tried clearing CMOS.
All the parts were in good working order, AFAIK.
Video card- TNT pulled from current system
RAM- Extra 64mB pulled from current system
CPU- Leftover from upgrade from BP6
PSU- AT form 230watts (yes, the this is an AT mother board)
MOBO- Bought off FS/T

I woudl say the Mobo is shot..
if you know the chip is in good condition then I would say the mobo.. contact the seller for further info.
Could static electricity while shipping mobo cause it. Many people put a pad to protect the under side of the mobo inside the anti static cover, which is a problem cause it causes static.
