I grabbed a set too. I don't know why, as I already had a set of Altec ADA880s, but I think I know what I'm gonna do and that's hook em up to the rear jack of my SBlive and put them at the back of the room. Hmmmmm can 2 subs in the same room co-exist? 🙂

Awsome, just ordered me some. These do sound quite nice,my roommate stuck them to our tv. Probably a bit better than the JBL Pro labeled Altec's I got for like $30. Similar unit, but 5 1/2 driver for the Sub. Hehe, now those were a nice deal, me and a friend bought all 15 boxes of them that we could find! Wonder if I could find the people that were sellign them again.

Kai920: Refurbished simply means that the product was sent to back to the manufacturer for one reason or another, fixed, and then put back on the market.

WHOA!! IN THOUGHT THE BASS WAS GOOD BEFORE I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE BASS KNOB!!! I TURNED IT UP AND WHOA!!!! BLEW ME OUTTA MY SEAT!!!

The ACS48 Powercube Plus speakers are excellent.. A friend of mine uses these to play music for his apartment parties. I got these a while back for $120 or something.. Very pleased.

Hot deal. Don't pass it up.

hey everyone, i talked to customer service and the person claimed to only have about 20 sets left...better get em while they're hot!

(Add 2 little cheapie speakers for surround sound if you have SBLive card).
I also got these couple years ago for over $100 on a special and have loved 'em ever since.
Seldom have to adjust bass control--usually have it about 1/3.
Volumn, as someone already said, is combineds with the on/off switch on
one of the satelites.

Kick it!

(The sub enclosure is wood, and not some crap plastic--makes a difference; and it's about twice the size of most subs you see for sale now. And, these might be the older ones which have an even better s/n ratio)

I got a pair for $130 over two years ago and they are great. Once I dialed in the sub, I've not needed to f*ck with it. I'm a musician so I need accurate reproduction from top to bottom. They r0x0r!

UPDATE:
Ugh! $19 S&H. Pass.🙁

would having a kickass $50-100 name brand sound card make any difference on these speakers vs a cheapy generic $5 sound card?

maybe i'm tone deaf, but i really dont notice any difference in my system w/ a cheap $5 card (pci 32bit) vs my $60 sb pci 128bit card

Spindler: thats because both cards are 16bit. Not 64 or 128 bit. those numbers are just the number of voices the card can reproduce. really doesnt mean anything.

I got mine today. Took 3 days to go through. Plugged it into Live and it sounds pretty good. It feels like the midrange isn't there. I'll hafta listen in more closely to figure out why. Maybe the sub/sat crossovers are completely wrong.
Then I plugged it into my MX300, but bass was totaly bad. But then I remember that I'm using standard win2k drivers for aureal and they messed up the bass on the driver. I'll install the reference ones tonight and reevaluate. The speaker has potential.

hey when did you order the speakers and how long did it take to recieve again?? this is for anybody who ordered the speakers

I dunno if the "20 remaining" thing is true. I ordered 2 days later and it still looks fine...so don't get rushed into it like I did if that's got you. No biggie though, I'm glad I made a decision.

So the sub doesn't have mag. shielding, right? Will it be okay to put it under a desk that has the monitor on top? I dunno, the sub I have now is shielded, so I have no idea how it'll be.

I received these refurbised ACS48X several days ago. Ordered on a Sunday, didn't get them until the Tuesday, the next week. Standard shipping to North Carolina was about 18.00. I was thinking that the would have cosmetic imperfections on them because they are refurbs. I was pleasantly surprised. They look new. The packaging was in peanuts with some sytrofoam but everything was in plastic but that's not what you pay for. These puppies rock!! Do not think that the ACS 45 you see on the "Net for about 45.00 are the same thing (I have these on Daughter's rig). They do sound good but since she's heard mine, I have to chase her off my computer for listening to MP3s.

This is the best deal on speakers in the 'Net, AFAIC. Get 'em.

yeah they have plenty of these in stock. someone posted that there was only 20 left, so i called on the same day and the csr told me there were hundreds left. i called couple days later, and they still had hundreds, and he said don't worry about the speakers being sold out. i think they get constant shipments of these.

the sub was designed to be placed on the floor, below the desk. sure the sub isn't shielded, but that just means that the sub should not be placed on top of the desk next to the monitor.

the system sounds excellent overall. i'm very impressed by the bass this system generates. i don't think i can ever use this system to its full potential, without getting evicted from my apartment.

anybody that already received these speakers... how are they?? any problems or are they working great? just want to check and see if these are well worth it

if you read, a couple ppl got theres and they seem to be good (except one guy who says he's missin the mid-range.. but dunno).

I had the ACS48's a while back... very nice.

i got these from Compgeeks. like someone said, the system looks new! it was packaged like a brand new unit, and i can't find any cosmetic flaws on it. excellent system at an excellent price. unless you already have a similar system, it would be foolish to pass up on this deal.
