I have a set. Love it. My only complaint is the hard to reach bass adjust knob on the subwoofer (tucked away on the back). Great sound, and a pretty good price.

I have these speakers, too. I paid $120, because I got 20% off. Circuit City sold me the ACS45, but they didnt have any in stock. Yea, the bass knob is hard to get too, but they sound great in all ranges. I couldn't be happier.

I paid 140 for these beauties also back in the day...the sound quality totally kicks...unshielded subwoofer tho...so u gotta keep it away from the monitor...also putting the bass knob on the back of the subwoofer was prolly the stupidest idea ive ever heard. But you cant beat the sound quality for that price.

good speakers for sure...i got mine from the VA days for like $70 back then...;) and still use it.

i've went through quite a few speaker sets for my computer only to be disappointed by the subwoofer output. These are pretty powerful with the 40 watt sub. The best quality bass in that price range as far as I'm concerned. The satellites are pretty clear as well. I would recommend these for a sub $100 speaker system.

I have a set as well that I bought about 2 1/2 years ago, and they still sound great today. Good power too, 20 watts from each Satellite, and a 40 watt sub in a wooden box, so 80 watts total. And yes, that bass adjustment on the back of the sub is rather annoying, I don't adjust it that much anyway. Besides that, it's all plusses.

I have these, they're frickin' brilliant at regular retail prices, nevermind at $52.50..good ole fashioned wattage; gotta tinker with the bass knob though since the max setting is a bit too heavy..

For you guys that have older speaker (in the line of ACS48), is yours have the power knob on the back of the subwoofer too ?
I have another Altec that is just like that and my current Advent390PL also have the power knob between speaker output jack no less.
I seems that the designer is either an idiot or trying to annoy the customer.
The first analogy tends to be true since the recent batch of speaker have their power elsewhere.
just my .02 cents

No, power is controlled on one of the sats via the volume controls (press both simultaneously to power on/off). I see a lot of complaints about the subwoofer's knob placement, but I must admit I haven't ever moved it off of max--I just adjust that stuff in my Live's equalizer. Don't let the knob dissuade you from getting these at a kickass price.

I have them too and think they're great. I like bass also, but find that keeping the sub on max is a little too much for me. Anyway, I paid almost twice that and have never regretted it.

$16 for shipping here too, these must be some well-built loudspeakers. I second guessed whether I wanted to spend that much on shipping (it's the principle of upping the price by 40% just to cover shipping). But I've never seen such widespread praise for a set of inexpensive speakers, so I went ahead and ordered.

Best regards,
Floyd

These are refurbished so you can't compare the price to new retail. A very good deal nonetheless.

I've got them and they are great. Best speakers I've ever had. They rumble the house pretty good for computer speakers. I give them my stamp of approval, especially at that price. I paid $120 new retail two years ago.
