The average American has 14 credit cards?

For some reason, Booze and financial advice don't mix. It's fixed.
 
I find that all but impossible to believe (though I have seen the same commercial). I could imagine that perhaps the average American would have 14 credit cards during his or her lifetime, but not all at once.
 
Pre-approved credit cards

Most people say why not, and many get as many credit cards as they can to build on their credit early on.

It's really amazing how many people max out poor limit credit cards and jump to the next one.
 
many people have store credit cards that they may use once for a 10% discount then never again, i have 5-6 like that...plus my other 5 🙂
 
The average cardholder has 2.7 bank credit cards, 3.8 retail credit cards, and 1.1 debit cards, for a total of 7.6 cards per cardholder. (G()()GLED)
 
Like previously mentioned, a lot of people sign up for the no payments for a certain amount of time deals which are basically credit cards and never get around to closing them. Every where you go stores try to push their cards offering 10% off the first purchase.

14 is not so impossible.

Home Depot Card
Foleys Card
JC Penney's Card
Gap Card
Best Buy card
Circuit City Card
Target Card
1 or 2 Gas Cards

But remember that thats the average cardholder, not the average american.
