i was thinking we need a separate forum for n00bs...or ban people from posting in OT until they have 100 or something posts

First and formost, if you are reading this you have been directed by another member to this thread. This means you have been acting like a n00b. If you do not know what a n00b is, follow these steps:

If you do know what a n00b (newbie ;) ) is proceed.


First of all there are a lot of unwritten and unspoken rules that will bring instant bashing towards you, if not a BAN by the almighty and sometimes funny Anandtech Moderator. This guide is here to help you understand a few.

Remember to read the Terms of Agreement you agreed to while registering for these forums, follow all rules there.

A BAN is when your account is locked and you may not post anymore. A vacation is a minor BAN where after a preset time, determined by the Anandtech Moderators (now to be reffered to as the Mod) you can post again. A PermaBAN is permanent as you can obviously, and sometimes you may even have your ip banned or have your ISP notified.

Things that can get you banned. (any achronyms you cannot understand please ignore and contunie reading, later you will understand.

1. Neffing (continue reading)
2. Posting any NSFW images, including porn and any other inappropriate images or content
3. Spamming. NO WE DO NOT WANT ANY FREE IPODS
4. Personal Attacks On Other Members, including name calling
5. Any racism, or in extremely bad taste comments.

There are many more, so to keep it simple and safe, if you have any doubt, do not click the post button.


Now that we have covered that lets move on shall we:

Seniority:
Post count and even more so Join Date play an important roll in the ATOT community. Lifers and Elite Members and those with Custom Titles (see below for list), especially YoYoHowsDaJello the SoundMan are to be treated with respect and are always taken seriously in most cases. Respect your elders and those that have highed Post Counts or more importantly earlier Join Dates.


FAQ:
Do not ask them, they will mark you as a little n00b, eventually you will figure whatever you were wondering out.

For words you do not udnerstand and commonly used abbrvs. use
