The ATOT Guide to Looking Nice (or preppy, or frat-boyish, your pick)

BTW: Polo shirts??? Come on..that is pure preppy garbage.

99% of this should just be basic grooming.

Shave/keep facial hair nicely trimmed. Shower often, use deoderant. If your clothes aren't neccessarily the best out there, make sure they are washed and pressed. Simple things like those make a huge difference.

... The better you dress, the more confident you are.

I like to dress "well" as you say, but i don't agree with this. A person can be confident no matter what they wear. Clothes don't make a person.

This is true, but for ugly people (like myself), or people with low self-esteem, they have problems finding confidence. If they can find it in the clothes they wear, then I see no problem with that.

Okay I agree with you on that fact. If it makes them more confident, then by all means go for it. I just though your original statement was kind of bold saying if you dress better you are more confident.

Logo T-shirts? Bell-bottom jeans?
I guess if you're going for the "surfer who has never surfed" or the "Fraternity-Party-Themed Party" look, that might work.

I think the "mode" changes whether you are going to work, a dance club, or a casual drinking spot. I'd feel out of place in most of what you mentioned, but then again I tend to dress "up" most of the time, and I'm out of college and I never go to dance clubs....

Some of the advice is good, though.

I didn't say bell-bottom, I said flared. 😉 It's a brand new pair they just released at Express, kinda bell-bottomish, I guess, but still look good.

And when I say logo'd shirts, I meant the A&F, A&E logo types...the simple kind.

Oh, you mean the 'im a trendy fvckwit' kind? Yeah, I hear high school chicks like that kinds of stuff.

You said the more flare, the better and that they should cover at least 75% of your shoes...that qualifies as bellbottom to me...
I agree that you should not get tapered-leg jeans, and they should have enough flare at the bottom to not get caught on your shoes. But noticeably flared just looks too effeminate IMO.

Oh, I know what you mean. Those are just awful. I guess I can't stand those companies that plaster their logo all over everything, and invent fake "products" to market on logo tees. I don't want to be a walking billboard for "big fashion."

Although I rarely spring the extra for Banana Republic if there isn't a sale, one thing I love about them is that they don't feel the need to plaster logos all over everything they make.

no fvking way im putting any sorta "gel" in my hair or wear clothes that look like they have been to the washing machine 1000x too many times, i throw away clothes when they start to look like that. Messy hair crap, no way, looks too unprofessional. im not wearing cologne either, i dont like smelling like anything, i use unscented everything when it comes to antipersperanets and stuff. i shave constantly to keep facial hair off, to look more professional. but im one of the few that wants to look decent

btw, im 17, senior in HS

Which is exactly why 90% of ATOTers will love this guide - they want to get those high school ho's. 😛

Tommy? Curve? Eternity?

Is this post 5 years old?

There's a lot of new colognes out there that should be checked out before any of these are bought. Hell, I have my bottle of Curve from 3 years ago that I'm still trying to finish.

LOL. I still have the same bottle of Eternity that my first girlfriend ever gave me. In 1993.
😀

after sitting for a while, my bottle of eternity went bad...like the smell changed into something not so pleasant. and i had to throw it away.

and i never ever wear undershirts...i find them ugly and uncomfortable.

other than that. u have a decent post going

JohnCU, what about underwear? usually i freeball it so my junk can swing like a pendelum, but lately its been smelling like a mixture of expired milk and baby vomit, any suggestions?

actually, im curious as to your take on moustaches, beards, goatee's, fu man chu's, clean shaven...

The only place I have hair on my body is legs, arms, and head. 😉 (well, uhh, one other area has hair, but it's trimmed weekly with a beard trimmer). Face gets shaved everyday, chest/stomach 2 times a week.
