Having a great day OFF.

X-mas may be religious, but it sure aint "christian". 😛

actually you have that backwards. Christmas is a christian holiday, but it is hardly religious because it is such a commercial holiday that is celebrated by christians and non-christians.

I celebrate the solstice by bringing a Tree into my home, by sharing gifts with my family and lighting my house to bring light in the dark of winter.
Now, now. This is the atheism thread.. The only light comes from the fiery spirit. Create your own culture, and celebrate your freedom from any crutch. 😀

My X-mas tree has the Quake3 icon on top

i still get gifts and a day off for something i dont even believe in, heheh ... suckers

NOT christian. Never celebrated by christians until 400 years after Jesus and then it was a thinly disguised version of the Saturnalia (and the oldest pagan celebrations of the Winter Solstice).

Go do a search. History and the bible comfirm this.

Hey all. Having a nice day off hanging out with my family, having good food, good beer (chimay grande reserve), and cool gifts.

Sorry, I'm agnostic. I personally don't believe in god, but I can't rule out the minimal possibility that he might exist because there is no real way to prove that he doesn't. Most people who think they're atheist are really agnostic also.

Either Or, mate there is no middle ground.

There's always a middle ground, it's hard core idiots like yourself who try to make everything so black and white. Grow a brain, scarecrow, because your argument is going up in flames and fast.

If people can rule out the possibility that there exists no God, then I can rule out the possibility that there is one.

But let's not turn this into a religous thread 😀

Nobody is ruling out possibilities. What you BELIEVE and what is FACT are two very different things. But if I were to ask you (aithiest or a religious person for hardcore evidence that the other DOES NOT exist or is untrue, you cannot provide my with anything substance. It's easy to find evidence to support your viewpoint, but to disprove all others is what is needed.

In my mind, I do not believe in any gods. But I have yet to aquire any evidence that DISPROVES the existance of a god (or gods).

To some of us there is only middle ground. Can't and won't say either way, there may or there may not be a god. A lot depends on your definition of God.

This would be where we differ. I require proof of existence, not proof of nonexistence. I need proof to tell me something is there. How you can PROVE something doesn't exist?

If it doesn't exist, how can you prove it doesn't? If it doesn't exist, then no proof would exist. Because proof related to something that doesn't exist would, in fact, prove it did exist.

there are ways to prove non-existence. it's just more difficult and may not always be possible.

Not to completely say you are false, but do you have any examples? Certaintly, due to the nature of christianity, it would be impossible to disprove. Oddly, everything in religion is based on a supernatural plane of existence. This alone makes it impossible to prove or disprove anything, seeing as to how we aren't supposed to reach this "next level" of existence till we are no longer in contact with the living world as we know it.

no examples regarding spirituality but one way to prove non-existence is to demonstrate that the existence of something would violate something that is known to be true. but of course the non-existence of a god wouldn't be easy if it at all can be proven. but just because there isn't a known way to prove the non-existence of supernatural beings doesn't mean there isn't one.

personally i'm more leaning towards that there is no god. but i will not entirely rule out the other possibility without proof. usually i don't care though. it's just for principle.

Well explained. But I am one to think that if I have no proof something exists, then it doesn't.

Call me simple minded, but if this god people worshipped was actually great and loving, I don't understand 90% of the bullsh!t that goes on in this world today. Ya, he/she/it loves his/her/it's people so much, yet he doesn't care to protect them. Oh ya, that's right, it's the devil. But god is more powerful than the devil, right? Why doesn't he just get rid of the devil? Why does he cut through all the bullsh!t of living and take everyone on to heaven? Why doesn't he prove his existence to all those who do not believe in him? Wouldn't that make it easier? Oh ya, we're waiting for the trumpets to sound out. But the world is worse today than it ever was, right? Maybe we only know this now because of the ease of traveling information in the digital age. Why are there thousands of different religions in the world? Why do they all differ if there is only one god? Why do all these religions cause conflict? Why is religion the number 1 cause for war, where hundereds of thousands of people have died and suffered? I thought god loved all these people? Oh ya, he works in mysterious ways. Mysterious enough to make these people's life living hell. When a little girl is kidnapped, why do the parents pray for god to watch over her and take care of her, yet they never chastise god for letting her get taken in the first place?

It's all these questions that make me not believe. Everything in religion is so hypocritical with what we've been taught growing up. If there is a god and he is all-knowing, then show your self already. Until then, I'll continue living my life.
