Lots of good info on BF2. So, I purchased the PC version in the box, not Steam. I've always been a fan of mouse/keyboard rather than console, but my kids bought me CoD Black OPs for Christmas and I played it on the Xbox, which is why I was asking. Kind of a bitch to aim for some reason though.

I didn't realize this was BF 1942 updated - I loved BF1942!! So, kick ass game so far. I played online last night and got my ass handed to me for a few hours. 🙂 Tons of fun. I plan to waste many hours on this game. Thanks for all the input.

😕, It's not. The bad company series is like a mini-spinoff of the Battlefield series. BF2 was the last battlefield game, and it will be replaced by BF3 later this year. BC2 is a continuation of the BC1 game that was consoles only, and basically a way for EA/Dice to get the battlefield type gameplay on consoles.

Oh, shit. Never mind then 🙂

What is the specact kit? Isn't it a skin for your guns and justs looks different, does not affect how the guns work? What is the purpose?

That's why I said it's just for those who are "into this kind of thing." No purpose at all, but heck, it's $2.75.

The guns do overheat, but I think they messed with that. I know they buffed the damage they do some. Best bet is to try and tracer it then rpg it. Difficult on heli's far away though.

I was on a minigun in a Huey last night..you're right, the guns overheat. It takes a while though and the cooldown is very fast. I racked up the kills quick..until we were 'sploded by someone. 😛

It's not just new skins for your gun, it is new skins for you.

Main changes:

American uniforms that are darker than normal.
Russian uniforms that are greener than normal.
Russian medic has green beret instead of red!

You have two different sets of loadouts for each class, this can make it quicker to choose between favorite load outs.

Here is a video with all of the details

Ok, I've played for two nights now and have racked up a mind-boggling high kill score of 5. Yes, that's right, in one match I had 5 kills. I know you want to know how I did it, but I'm not handing out any trade secrets, so don't ask bitches!

Now, back to reality, do you have any suggestions for "noobie" type servers, or am I going to have my ass kicked for the next several weeks on any server?

Thanks!

All the noob servers have pros waiting to slaughter you.
All the pro servers have pros waiting to slaughter you.
All the ones that dont specify a skill level have pros waiting to slaughter you.

Just pick a server map you like with a good ping and go from there, theres a mixture of pros/noobs on every server. Tips for noobs include:

- Stay in cover
- Keep moving
- Dont go obvious places, i.e. run down the main road to the objective, take the side streets instead
- Try the medic class, medic is very noob friendly
- Kill people that dont see you, a massive chunk of kills in this game are from killing people facing the other way or who simply havent spotted you because of the angle you are at/place you are hiding etc
- Dont be afraid to run away, it beats dying

Lastly if you die a lot its not always your fault, if your team isnt very good then thats the reason for it, it may seem like shifting the blame but if 3 of your team run in to fight 3 enemys and kill a total of 0 then that leaves you fighting 3 people plus anyone else thats spawned in the meantime.

so many deaths spawning on a squadmate, altho i'm against having a 1-2 second invincibility shield as that would suck if you're the attacker

Yes. Set your search filter to find empty servers. You can't get your ass kicked if there's no one on the other side.

And I'm only half joking. Joining empty servers is an excellent way to explore maps and vehicles and weapons and just learn the basic nuances of the game.

Rambo is win ... especially in Vietnam. I could run in and take a bunker on my own, unload a clip into a few people, pick up there kit so I don't have to reload, keep moving, etc.

Game is easy 😀

Watch the Video Boot Camp videos in the OP.

Since not knowing the maps is such a great disadvantage for noobs, perhaps play on some "<map x> 24/7" servers for a while. When you get comfortable or bored with one map, go to a different server running a different map 24/7.

Join the largest squad with an empty slot, and try to stick with your squad mates. Watch what they do and try to learn from them. Hang back just a little and let your squad mates be the lightning rod, try to finish off whomever they engage with.

Be a tank whore?

I played as medic a LOT as soon as I got the shock paddles. I have about 2/3 of my kill numbers in heals/revives..IMHO that's a great way to start learning how the maps play. Join a squad, and hang back from your squadmates and do your best to revive them as they get shot. You also get plenty of opportunities for avenger kills (extra points) doing that.

Easiest way to get points as a noob is to be an engineer and stick to a tank or apc. You man the machine gun, and mow down any infantry that pops up. Also jump out and repair tank when it gets damaged for easy points. And also jump out and kill anyone that tries to c4 your tank. You'll get points for both killing stuff with your machine gun and whenever the driver kills stuff you will get assist points.

If you're on a server that has map enabled on your lower right corner, after a while you will see the natural routes of attack and defense for the map. All while observing from the relative safety of your vehicle.

medic is easiest to make a lot of points but I don't like their weapons (LMGs). Or said otherwise they are not the easiest to make kills at least for me.

I just wanted to say that staying in the high ground like in a building and killing passing by enemies usually is an easy way to get kills especially with 4x scope or red dot if you have that yet.
Else heavy 40 mm grenade usage. Will make your opponents angry but then they can see your rank and understand ("dumb grenade noob").
IMHO grenades are a little OP, not that hard to hit even moving people over big distances.

Close range I've learned little else compares to the 40mm shotgun. When in assault it's my primary first shot, and if I get a chance then I flip down to the rifle to continue on until I can reload again.
