Bad argument is bad. Learn how to click your middle mouse button. God forbid you ever have to check your 6 every once and a while. At least knifers actually have to get in close before they can get their kill. That just means you and anyone else shooting at the knifer before he closes the distance are that much worse and DESERVE TO DIE. QQ somewhere else pls.

I don't know who you think you are talking to, but I'm pretty damn good at this game. I can use it just as well as the next guy. Probably better. The point is that the Knife changed the entire dynamic of the game. I can deal with CG'ers too but that doesn't mean that a round doesn't degrade to crap when half of each team is using them. It becomes less fun (except for maybe the person using it). Simply bringing back the mechanic they used in ALL the other BF games would solve a lot of the issue and that was just having to actually take the knife out to use it.

You think one way, I think another. But try to less of an assclown about it.

Yeah, the last weapons aren't guaranteed to be the best.

Assault:
The AN-94 is far an away the best AR for the Assault class, its not even close. The M16A2 isn't bad as the last rifle, but the AN-94 really is that much better, its actually the new "M60" in that its easily the most OP weapon for its respective class. If I get killed by an Assault, 9 times out of 10 (at the very least) its with an AN-94. Heck, the XM8 - the 2nd Assault gun and first one you unlock to use after the starting AEK - is one of the best overall ARs...

Medium to long range I agree but at close quarters I fear that AUG much more than the AN-94.

Engineer:
If you play the engineer class as it was meant to be (armor support/anti armor) then the UMP-45 will definitely be one of the best engie guns you can wield (ie you're foregoing the magnum perk for explosive perk for your rockets/tankmines or using armor to stay alive longer for tank repairs). If you're using magnum ammo then the XM8-C and AKS-74U can trump the UMP-45, but just shoot those guys with a gustav 😉 Like all engie guns, the UMP-45 is most effective for close to medium ranges and wielded from the hip.

Finally got the UMP-45 last night. More accurate than the SCAR-L but lower rate of fire than the AKS-74U and almost dead silent. It's pretty nice. Not overpowering, not disappointing like the MG3. It's just about right for a final unlock. The only drawback is the iron site but I can live with it.

I prefer the knife system in BF2 where you had to draw it first then use it. Just too cheesy in this game to press a button and instant IWIN. Tone down the CG and knife and this game would be perfect. I love how they reduced the grenade spamming which was my biggest gripe with BF2 but seriously the knife is just beyond silly in this game.

I agree that the knifing may have been a bit too generous previously, but there is no excuse for sneaking behind a guy, knifing him in the back undetected multiple times, then still being killed because it didnt register. That is way way way worse. Ideally they would balance it, but the current implementation is just unacceptable.

They didn't introduce the current knife bug intentionally to "nerf" it. It was a mistake that will be reversed in the next patch.

On the other hand, adding the separate key to put away your weapon, knife someone, then re-equip your old weapon WAS intentional. I'm going to agree with Tequila. I liked it better the BF2 way. It's too auto-magic now.

Doh!

twitter.com/Bazajaytee: "There will be no PC patch this week, Kalms is on the case. This pushes our release to Monday next week as long as all goes well with QA/Steam"

Also in the news: twitter.com/Bazajaytee: "Yes, there is a new Community Manager here at DICE. I'll get him to introduce himself soon. Also I'll still be around but not as frequently."

Anyone having issues with the game freezing when you try to respawn? Once the countdown gets to 0 my system chokes for about 30 seconds. I can then click enter battle, and it freezes again. This sometimes happens up to 5 times before I can respawn.

I've been having this problem ever since upgrading to CAT 10.6 drivers (yes, I did a clean install).

Try the 10.4a drivers. And also make sure your real-time anti virus guard isn't running. For me I have to disable AntirVir Guard before I play else I get really bad spawn freezes.

You should be able to put an exception in to have your antiVirus software ignore your My Documents/BFBC2 directory. Then you won't have to turn it off. Apparently, every time you spawn, the game write your load-out to that directory.

New Battlefield Blog Post: Introduction to the new Battlefield Community Manager and Xbox 360 Onslaught news

Hello my friends!

My name is Daniel and I am the new Community Manager for Battlefield. I would like to say it is an honour and a privilege working for DICE. I will tell you a bit about myself, my gaming career and also share my goals and ambitions for the Battlefield series with you- the community. I have mostly been gaming on PC but during the last few years I have also been gaming on Xbox 360 and PS3. My gamertag is zh1nt0 so feel free to add me. Also make sure that you follow OfficialBFBC2 for the latest news.
Being a big fan of computer games, back in 2002 I stumbled upon a game in which you could fly airplanes, drive tanks and also play as an infantry player in multiplayer mode. It was Battlefield 1942. After that, the Battlefield series caught my attention and I immediately started playing competitively in different ladders and cups, both in the North American leagues and the European ones.

Walking out & The comeback
I had a short break in 2006 but I have now returned to the scene more actively this year to play Bad Company 2 on the PS3 console. My team and I are in the finals of the Console gaming league which will hopefully be streamed live. The final is scheduled for probably scheduled for Saturday, so stay tuned! Since I have been in most leagues, I am familiar with the competitive sites scattered around the web.

Goals and ambitions
My goal for the Battlefield Community is to evolve the community to be the largest, best and most satisfied community there is in online gaming. I am fully convinced that this can be achieved by involving you- the players of this community. I always say that with the right ambition, motivation and visualizing your goals, you will achieve them in the end. I also intend to keep track of the different leagues, cups and tournaments being played for BF2, BF1943 and BFBC2 for all platforms. I would very much like to know you guys out there so look out for me on the Battlefield. I hope you enjoyed this presentation and if you have any questions you can find me on the EA forums and the various community sites spread around the web.

With this said I’m very happy to announce that Onslaught will be released tomorrow on the 24th on Xbox Live marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points.
Thanks!

Daniel

I'm using MSE and I had already tried adding that directory to the exceptions, no help

Is it worth getting into BF2 at this point? I've never played it before. My last BF game before this was 1942

If you are asking, "are the servers going to be empty when I want to play?", the answer is NO! It's Wednesday night, and there are over 10,000 people playing BF2 (with and without mods): http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?game=bf2

Although the graphics, atmosphere, and immersion of BFBC2 is a step up over BF2, many people prefer BF2's epic 64 person battles, huge (less linear) maps, and greater abundance and variety of vehicle options.

Cost of entry is low. Get the cheapest version you can find. $10 or less at your local Best Buy. The latest patch adds the Euro Forces and Armored Fury maps packs for free. The Complete Collection adds only the Special Forces mod on top of that, which is not that heavily played. I would not pay too much of a premium for that.

If you liked BF1942, and BFBC2, you should like BF2 as well. I still play weekly, and it doesn't feel old an clunky when I do. Just a little barren, compared to BFBC2.

Many people still consider it the pinnacle of Battlefield, so far. I don't think it would be waste of your time.

will it run at 1920x1200?

Definitely. I played BF2 on and off for 4 years. BFBC2 has my attention now but BF2 provided a lot of good times 🙂

The only disappointing thing is that BF2:SF has hardly anybody playing anymore 🙁 I loved GhostTown and Warlord maps and the grappling hook, zip lines were nice additions.

Knife is the same in this game as any other fps. Not game breaking at all... especially in such wide open spaced maps.

I take that back. It is game breaking... because it's been broken for 2 fucking months and counting!
