New Battlefield Blog Post: Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

Reduced the lethal blast range of the 40mm grenade and M2CG to highlight their role as a secondary weapon against infantry.

Wow, these guys can't keep a secret very long :hmm:

haha. This will compel people to become better at using it in its nerfed status or at actually using "regular" firearms against infantry.

Never really had a problem with people spamming any of the LMGs, so meh...

so what it the damage output now on rocket weapons (rpg, CG, AT4)? Wonder if rpg is now going to be more effective vs infantry.

I was playing during lunch for about 30 minutes and the 40mm grenade launcheris worthless. I fire a grenade in a group of 4 people and not a single kill.

Good. Maybe now people will be able to respawn without getting spammed by 40's and CG's the whole time.

Wow - lots of hate going on over at the EA forums. I'm thinking its fanboi related as I didn't see anything that worrisome in the change logs. Personally I think the changes will make HC less of a snipe fest which I applaud. I do not agree with a couple of the weapon changes (I dont think the M16, G3 needed changes) but Im not to worried about that since there are plenty of other weapons to use

I saw a lot of complaints about the helicopters/tracer dart/increase AA damage as well. Having been on more than a couple of teams that were completely incapable of shooting down the helis I am ok with this change too

Any thoughts here from experience with the new patch?

Please keep the bitching and moaning to a minimum. Remember, it's free. 🙂

Eh I got my monies worth from this game +1 so far 🙂

Does DICE have any plans for expansion packs like they did for BF2? I'd love to see some "special forces" maps done at night 😉

DICE claims they learned their lesson with BF2, and will never again release paid map packs, because they split the community.

For-pay weapons is an obvious no-no.

So, anything of consequence to the game, like maps, weapons, specializations, or vehicles, will be free for all.

They may sell items that don't affect the competitive aspects of the game, like the current "skins".

It's fun to think about what these items might be...

Taunts? Things your player might say during the game?
Weapons that eject shells out of the correct side of the gun?

Probably look to Battlefield Heroes for their thoughts on this issue. I think they make tons of money on that game, despite it being "free".

no, they have stated they will never do that again. THings that matter likes maps/weapons will stay free so they dont fragment the community

Baza stated more free stuff was to come for the PC but didn't elaborate. So, perhaps a new map is in the works. Then again it could be something far less interesting.

I hope they come out with some urban maps. The current maps are getting boring.

In regard to taunts, for people that annoy me and if killcam is on, I will teabag them after I kill them.

Wow that's disheartening to hear they are against putting out map packs! I hope they keep their word like they did with not releasing which weapons got nerfed 😀

I think the problem with BF2's map packs were that they were confusing. If I recall there were 3 and it was tough to tell who was playing what from your server browser and it kept relaunching your game if you had say special forces installed but were looking at the base game list. Basically it was like owning 3 or 4 different games.

To me I can't stand having to buy a new game that feels like an expansion pack just to get new weapons and maps. That's why CoD has become a turn off for me lately. I want to keep my character and keep going, not start all over again with the whole account bs on up.

They are not against map packs, just againt packs that are not free. And they should be. It does split the community. I hope they continue to support this game, because I will continue to support them by buying Battlefield games. I bought this on release day, and have loved it since.

i still find the m60 pretty lethal... shows how OP'd it was earlier.

I can still kill people across the map with the M16 as well, but I'd like to think skill effects that more than the gun. When I played today at lunch, I didn't see anyone using the M60, so the nerf must have deterred at least the bullet spam noobs from it.

I think it might be more - everyone was expecting the M60 nerf and are now testing out all the other, less expected weapon changes

Anyone notice a wacky lag issue? Its not like regular lag for me, its almost liek its trying to load something all the time.
And I'm not a big fan of radical changes in game mechanics, like this new patch. Weather it was blanaced or not, I got used t the old gameplay. Its just irritaing for me to have it all different and have to change. I play the games for fun, so i dont like ot have to waste time relearning gameplay.

On that note, what are the strongest kits for each class now? I took a look at those links, but now sure how they play out in a real game.

Thanks!

m60 spam is somewhat better now, and I see others using other lmg's. Shotguns feel a bit better but without slugs they seem a touch weak, perhaps I need to try them more without. Otherwise it's going to feel largely the same. This has definitely cut down on cg and 40mm spam, you'll obviously still get killed by one but it's not near as bad as before.
