I did these mouse fixes and it made no difference to me...

I noticed very little difference as well. Then again, with how it was before I was on a mouse sensitivity of 75. There is a slight difference in turrets though, but nothing huge.

I think the mouse fixes made it worse for me. I think I'm going to go back to my old settings. The new settings seemed more sluggish than what i was use to.

The R9 server files have been released to all GSP's.

Story on BadCompanyTwo.com

EA UK Forums Post by Bazajaytee:

We have just sent out servers labeled R9 to the server providers. Our initial plan of forcing PB to be ON when ranked mode is enabled has been delayed until R10. This is to allow us to gather some extra information from Punkbuster enabled servers to ensure all PB related issues are gone before we switch to PB ON = Ranked.

The other changes are as follows:

  • admin.say command implemented
    - the output currently looks a bit funky on the game client, like so: Player: [Server]: <text>
but with the next game client it will look like: Server: <text>
  • admin.yell to squad has changed (you need to specify both team and squad)
  • squad numbering has changed – the “no squad” squad has ID 0, and real squads are 1 and up.
  • Autobalance improved, it shuffles people both during and between rounds now, and does a better job.
  • mapList* commands reworked
  • banList* commands reworked
  • listPlayers command added
  • admin.listPlayers command reworked (GUID, kills, deaths, ping and score added)
  • Players have non-PB GUIDs now (these are distinct from PB GUIDs)
  • onChat event reworked
    • now it specifies target player subset as well
    • shows text before profanity filtering
    • client-originated chat messages starting with “/” make it to the server, and broadcast via onChat, but are not broadcast to other game clients
    • use “/!<command>” if you want to be able to send commands to your homemade rcon tools without showing the commands to other players
  • player.onAuthenticated added
  • player.onSquadChange, player.onTeamChange implemented
  • Couple of crash fixes
  • Support for “region” setting
  • banList.save bugfixed
  • mapList.nextLevelIndex is always pointing out which map will be run during the next round (so during round 1 on a 2-round map, the nextLevelIndex will point to the map currently being played)
  • exposed number of rounds per maps in maplist.txt, and via the remote admin commands

Example maplist:

RUSH
levels/mp_012gr # runs with default number of rounds for the map
levels/mp_012gr 0 # runs with default number of rounds for the map
levels/mp_012gr 1 # run 1 round
levels/mp_012gr 2 # run 2 rounds
levels/mp_012gr 3 # run 3 rounds

Example console commands:

mapList.append levels/mp_012gr # add map with default number of rounds
mapList.append levels/mp_012gr 0 # add map with default number of rounds
mapList.append levels/mp_012gr 1 # add map with 3 rounds
mapList.append levels/mp_012gr 2 # add map with 3 rounds
mapList.append levels/mp_012gr 3 # add map with 3 rounds
mapList.list # get maplist
-> OK “levels/mp_012gr” “levels/mp_012gr” “levels/mp_012gr”

mapList.list magic_extra_argument_which_will_be_named_in_an_hou r_or_so # get maplist, including number of rounds
-> OK “levels/mp_012gr” “0” “levels/mp_012gr” “3” “levels/mp_012gr” “0” # get pairs of <mapname, number of rounds> where 0 = default for that gamemode

serverInfo
-> OK <stuff that is shown already today> “2” # After the current round finishes, there are 2 rounds left to play on the current map

This whole "map rounds" thing is interesting, because it seems to allow play as attacker/play as defender to be combined with mixed game modes (rush & conquest). I wonder if we will need a Procon update before moving to the new server version?

Don't know what you mean by "cater to", but just about every clan I have seen with an actual web site is looking for mature members. Especially ones that will throw in a few bucks a month...

If you can handle a few rules, check out www.TacticalGamer.com.

Thanks, by mature I mean no racist, name calling, limited swearing, playing for fun but with a purpose (team goal), keeping the teams balanced, etc. Thanks for the link, I just don't have the time to commit to a clan. I'll check out tactical tho, thanks.

I play on their servers all the time going back to BF2. In BF2, you used to get kicked from the server if you didn't join a squad.

For BC2, they have two mixed rush/conquest servers and a hardcore.

I played a few times on there BF2142 server.. at a quick glance they seem to advocate a good set of rules, but in practice it just resulted in a massively well organized spawn camp at an uncappable base.

So yeah.. good team goals, etc.. LOL.

I play with the TG guys quite a bit...I used to be a supporting member back in my BF2 days. Great group of guys on the whole. As long as you respect each other and follow the rules on their servers you will have no problems there. Well, you might have one problem...getting on the servers can sometimes be difficult because they are usually full....

good luck,
Chappie

IS there a scoreboard for the team to see if you are winning/losing ? ? I remember something like this in Bf2, a ticket counter but its not apparent in BC2.

It's on the mini-map. Here's one from Rush mode, showing the Defender and Attacker ticket counters. The conquest one is similar. Whomever's ticket counter reaches zero first loses. I think in Hardcore mode, when the minimap is not shown, the part with the ticket counter usually still shows.

Are you concerned about being required to show at certain days and times to practice, or "scrim" against another clan? Look for the code words "casual clan", as opposed to "competitive clan".

I'd say more than half of the existing clans are casual, with no organized competitions against other clans. They primarily exist to only support their own server, that they can run as they please, set their own rules, and play together with their friends.

They constantly recruit to try to make new friends, and spread the financial burden of paying for the servers.

Are there any servers that cater to more mature (older) gamers and don't mind new players? Thanks.

You can check us out at 5307thRangers.com. Most of our players are 35+, and we don't cater to the "OMG pwnd!!!!!" community. We run a hardcore conquest server, but we're looking into mixing gametypes.

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for, but maybe not the hardcore part yet. I'm at a 2:1 deaths:kill right now. Sometimes a little better, sometimes worse.

the numbers listed were starting points - mess around w/ it a bit. in the gamesettings.ini flle i changed the recommeded starting point form 2.5 to 3.5 and it works very well, along w/ changing the other scale factors from 10 to 15. the numbers were very clearly stated as starting points.

Thanks.. I didn't really read the article , I just made the changes. I'll have to play around with it tonight and see if it's any better.

I kind of miss the BF2 music when sitting in menu and waiting to join a game... Does the mouse smoothing fix really help??

If you want to test it then try the small exe program. Much easier way to do it and you can easily revert back to how it was originally. Thats what messed me up as I did it manually and for some reason I forgot to save an original copy of my gamesettings.ini file. 🙄

Guys,

Here's something that I don't understand. In the server browser, I always filter out the servers with punkbuster on, but yesterday, the server that I joined mentioned that no punkbuster on even though the filter was suppose to filter out the non-punkbuster servers. Can someone tell me how that happened?

Could cheating be more prevalent in those kind of servers? I felt like I may have ended up in a server like that because even though I suck compare to some of you guys, I was being shot and killed like there was no tomorrow in this particular server yesterday. It was just crazy how I would die sometimes.

this.

if you have a different DPI mouse than the OP then your results will be different.

I run a sidewinder xwhatever cranked all the way up and they are crisp for me
