it's the complete opposite for me though. I can actually do well in MW2. In BC2 its instant die for me in MP.

Here's what I did. Right click, properties, compatibility on both the bfbc2.exe and steam.exe and where it says privilege level run always as admin.

yes, bought it from Steam.

I get a message that says that the game in unavailable. take off the run as admin and it starts right up.

All this means is that you play longer when you're on a good team, or if you're an asshat you switch teams to be on the winning team. Judging by k/d I'd say the later. lol
 
Anyone's server history not update at all? I am getting really pissed off at the server browser. Can't see pings (yes I am running as Admin) takes so long that servers showing a few spots open have already filled up. I click on games and it says 'loading' then dumps me back to the browser. My server history doesn't update and I found out I can't add a server to my favorites anymore. I let it sit for 5 minutes on 'Getting Server Information' and nothing!

Its a fun game but getting into it is going to give me an aneurysm!

Maybe I'll try uninstalling and re-installing and hope that helps.....

...or I team up with my brother, and the 2 of us are just so good that whatever team we are on usually wins.

Did you buy it from Steam? From what I've read you have to run that as Admin. If you bought it any other way you have to right click the launch icon and run it as Admin.

Are you running Windows 7? I see a lot of people using that having the ping issue. I don't have it, but was wondering if it had a way to run games as XP compatibility mode...

camping? I don't see that happening much. it's difficult to camp in MW2. and no, i don't camp much. If I get a good spot where I know people will be coming in the next few seconds, I'll stick around (its called ambush and is a valid military tactic), but most of the time I run around the maps killing people. I'm not always good at it, but way better than BC2 when I get sniped as soon as I expose any part of my body.

No I bought it from Gamestop so I have a disc, I've been running as an admin but nothing changes. I'm running Win7 64bit, I've tried to force the game to run as XP but still didn't see any change.
 
A few things:

Just because you're not good at the game, doesn't mean it's bad. Learn the mechanics and adapt your playstyle. And quit bitching.

The game has tons of issues but underneath all of those is a really, really fun game. I wish EA/DICE would be more communicative instead of letting their forums eat themselves alive.

I cannot, cannot, cannot wait to see if they or some third party implements a "class restriction" type of thing. I had 9 snipers on my team this afternoon. That's more than half. Doubleyou Tee Eff.
 
I actually got onto a server with very few snipers. It was actually pretty fun (when i wasn't getting killed by grenade launchers). So its definitely the snipers who ruin the game.

the controls and weapon handling is a bit wonky still. Just feels like my character is made of jello as everything just kind of seems to wobble or jiggle.

Here I am. I play on any team for any amount of time, and yeah... We do lose. I tend to lose more games in the Squad Deathmatch because clans team up against you and I am playing with some random-joes or by myself. You have no idea how long it takes to do 1v1 to 50 kills on a huge map... I summoned probably 200 mortar strikes and leveled EVERY BUILDING on the map because I could not find this guy... Yeaaahh... I won though! Oh, and it sucks when the other player has ALL the guns and you have just some. 🙁

And I do a lot of games where I am either 15/3 or 3/10. I don't usually have an inbetween. It depends on what class I am playing and if I am actually just messing around or what. :/ (i.e. I'm in a helicopter trying to get roadkills or in a very easy to snipe UAV trying to do the same... It's easy to kill the guy standing at the UAV station 🙁 )

Oh come on man, how can you honestly say that there is not much camping in MW2 and that it is difficult? I like MW2 a lot and play it regularly but saying that there is not very much camping in MW2 is a flat out lie.

I dont see why people keep comparing BC2 and MW2, they are very different games. MW2 has smaller maps and is just straight run and gun. If you dont want to work together, you dont have to and you can still have a lot of fun and get a high score just running around doing your own thing.

BC2 has larger maps and more people, its a lot harder to play BC2 with the same tactics that you would use in MW2.

I'm not denying that camping doesn't exist in MW2, but when I play MW2 there is very little camping. Maybe 1 guy out of the whole server. To say thats all people do is complete BS though.

It is difficult to do. On most maps there are usually at least 2 entries to every area. If you sit in 1 place you are going to die because you can't sit and watch both entries all the time. This is a fast paced game and it doesn't work to camp.

People keep comparing the 2 games because they have a hard on for bashing MW2. Its the "cool" bandwagon thing to do these days.
 
MW2 is an awesome game, one of my favs. BC2 is awesome too.

People don't camp much in MW2, they do in BC2. In MW2, a large percentage of players use a defensive style to get them to their OP killstreaks. It just makes sense to do so. Patrol an area, keep moving around the outskirts of the map, keep your back to the edge of the map, sound whore, drop shot...etc. And it pays off big time when you roll out your Harrier, Pavelow, Chopper Gunner killstreaks. It's a frustrating style to play against, but it'snot camping.

In BC2 there are people who camp exclusively. Snipers will find a good spot and just sit there until they're either discovered or the lines of battle change (new m-comm's on rush open up...etc.). That's camping. In BC2, a guy will camp a stairway in a building and mow down enemies as they keep trying to walk up. This will continue until the building is either destroyed or the lines of battles change. In BC2, players will sit guarding an m-comm station because they know the enemy will come through there.

They're both awesome games, two of my fav shooters in a long time.

the demo not out anymore?

i have an older system(2.8ghz dual-core, 9600gt, 2gb ram) and am curious if it will run at a decent res on my 24" monitor..
 
lol @ how definition of camping has changed since Quake days

I would argue if a recon is kitted with sniper rifle, they aren't camping.

Sitting back shooting is what I would expect them to do, camping is when that assault guy sits on the 3rd floor of the house shooting 40mm GL down the stairway to kill people as they go to come into the house.

Yeah right, MW2 has more campers than I've ever seen in a game. 1 guy in the entire server, haha, good job downplaying the issue. I get games where both teams sit in once place the entire game waiting for someone to move forward who then promptly gets shot. It is all that people do even if you don't want to see it, and it's obvious because the game favors it with the killstreak rewards.
