If you have a copy of BF2, several mods have the A-10. AIX, DCon, for sure. The A-10 in DCON is awesome, but you'd probably end up flying it on an empty server... :'(

plus the armored fury addition of bf2, i think midnight sun has the a10. actually, it was integrated into the 1.5patch, so if you have bf2, install the latest patch and it will be in there. i thought it was on the operation road rage map too but google does not confirm this. and i have a pretty good feeling that bf2 servers are going to be running up to and possibly bf3 comes...

I believe you are right. Can't believe I forgot that. There definately is an A-10 on Road Rage. Brrruuum...Brrruum... Can't forget that sound!

Heh, the official forum is a cesspool of 16-years crying.

Though, prone position is mentioned throughout the games code and it looks like it's already in there. I bet it won't be long after release until someone figures out how to mod it in.

Prone was confirmed that it won't be in the game. I think there's unlimited sprint stamina though, so put your snip0r rifle down and grab a shotgun!

Depends if "best deal" = best price or = best exclusive items like the choice we had to make with DA:O & ME2. The Limited Edition with the 6 early unlocks is everywhere, for the same price as the (very hard to find, actually) standard edition. Amazon has the best price I've seen, at $45 w/free shipping. But GameStop has the only retailer-specific bonus I've seen anywhere, which is an exclusive AKS-74 (silenced?) assault rifle - but you'll pay $50+tax and/or +shipping.

GameStop also mentions exclusive early access to the Squad Rush game mode, but only on the game's "landing" page and in the console versions - no mention at all in the PC version listing, which leads me to believe that for some reason EA is holding back Squad Rush in XBL/PSN multiplayer for 30 days but it'll be available on PC Day One (any corroboration anywhere, GullyFoyle?). Weird.

Ah, GoGamer dropped down to $40, nice, I love GoGamer. Last I checked, it was $42, which, when combined with $3 shipping and tax for California (me), was greater than Amazon w/free shipping. Plus I checked and it's the (hard to find) Standard Edition that doesn't officially include the early unlocks. Major Nelson of XBox Live said earlier (a few pages back in this thread) that every Standard Edition would get the Limited Edition early unlocks on Day One anyway, but there's been no corroboration that that applies to PS3 & PC, so caveat emptor.

Also, Newegg has the same deal as Amazon, $45 + free shipping. Also, the EA store is offering a free copy of BF2142, if that interests you. It may be only the for the digital version (EA Downloader, not well regarded), and is full price.

As a neglected PC-first gamer whose hobby nowadays seems at the mercy of the almighty consoles, this makes me practically giggle with glee. Finally, PC gets something before the consoles do?!?! Awesome! I was thrilled that Dragon Age was PC-exclusive, then still happy that it was coming out first when the consoles were announced, then chagrined when PC was delayed to coincide with the console release. Now, the opposite, and for a sequel to a console-only game, no less!

Yep, another client is heading your way on auto update (within the next 15 minutes) and Steam (in about 1 hour when Valve presses the button when they get into the office). This will be the LAST update before the Beta closes on the 25th and any issues found in here will still be taken and looked at to be fixed on the retail version of the game.

Here is the usual changelog from Kalms (I'm sure some of you will be happy with this one )

* Likely fix for "5-minute disconnects". Try it out, and say whether it helps or if you are still getting booted (if so: after how long? and always after the same amount of time?)

What happened on some machines was this:
When you are logged in, your game client has TCP connections to two of EA's master servers. During a game, there isn't much traffic on all those connections. Therefore, the master servers send dummy transactions every 150s. This is so your game client knows that the connection hasn't been broken. Well, guess what? It seems that they don't send dummy transactions to all players. Why not? Nobody knows. So what the R4 client does, is that when it has seen 160s of idleness on a connection, it sends a dummy transaction. This was enough to get rid of the disconnects on the test machines.


Oh, and: when the nearest known problem location is in Poland, the master servers are in the US, and you have no direct access to either machine... then debugging is a convoluted process.

* Workaround for speaker setups. If one of your speakers has lower volume (or is totally silent), try with one of the following lines in your Settings.ini:
o SpeakerCount=2
o SpeakerCount=4
o SpeakerCount=6

Again, let us know if it doesn't help.

Rather few changes this time around - it's getting more and more difficult to "lift" changes from the retail version into the closed beta version.

Also, you may have read about people being able to crash others' machines with long clantags and nasty chat messages? There is server-side filtering in Server R8, and RSPs begun rolling those out a few hours ago.

So for anyone else with a GTX 295, I forced DX9 and the game runs like it should. Everything's maxed (except for AA, no option to bump it up under DX9), and I'm not going under 60fps. Woo!

Yeah, I noticed that update. I can't imagine why they would even bother to do that considering the game is being wiped in under 12 hours. Although it seems to have fixed the issue where I was partially running in window mode.
