this is the first BF game to not have it afaik. Hence my consolized complaint. BF3 wont have any of this nonsense (we hope)

Go outside and run a sprint and then try to turn left while continue to run at same speed... doesnt happen in real life.....

or do you mean by just head turn not actual body turn?

In COD when youre running you can still use your "A" and "D" keys, in the BattleField Bad Company 2 demo you cannot.

can you honestly tell me prone doesnt make half of MW2 a weak ass camper fest?

Yes, yes I can. Campers never top the kill charts, not in any game Ive ever played. Of course Ive never played a BattleField game except for this demo. 😀

So youre telling me when you run in real life you cant look to your left or right? lol.

Ya thats realism alright.

And in BF you can look to your left and right when running. Do me a favor and go outside and start running and try to strafe left or right, you'd fall on your face, thats what your talking about. The A&D buttons in COD allow you to move left to right, its technically not realistic to be able to run and do this.

You can sprint in MW and look to your sides, Im not sure what you mean. I think my description might be better then to say "strafing". In the BadCompany demo you cannot use your "A" and "D" keys while running where as in ModernWarfare you can. In order to look to the left you have to run to the left in order to look to the right you have to run to the right, thats just retarded. Has Battlefield always been like this?
There are two speeds to a normal PC FPS: let's call them Move and Sprint. On a console with an analog stick the speed of Move is variable, and there's usually a Sprint button (click the stick down, or something, right?). In every FPS I've ever played (including CoD4 I believe, but it's been a while), you can only Sprint while going Forward (W) in the direction your mouse is looking. If you're Sprinting forward and press D to strafe right while still holding down the W + Sprint keys, you'll automatically slow down to Move speed. Yes, it's pretty much been like that in every FPS I can remember playing, including CoD4 (but again, it's been a while). Did they actually change that in MW2? You can press D while holding the Sprint key and you'll continue to move sideways at Sprint speed, not Move speed?

I have no idea if a console FPS is different, if you can click the Sprint function while holding the analog Move stick (even now I can't picture whether Move is RS or LS) in some direction other than Forward and actually be going Sprint speed (as opposed to just maximum Move speed).

Yes, what you described as not having enough commands may be the same thing as what sticks out to me. Ill have to go in and mess with it some more. Its the "toggling" of actions that stuck out to me. Dont know if those are in there or not. In COD you can use toggled versions or nontoggled versions. These are just things that they should have been able to do but didnt and the game sufferes because of it.

You mean like having to hold the Crouch key rather than toggling Crouch on/Crouch off? Yes, that's a bit of a pain I suppose - I can't recall for sure if BF has always been that way, but I think it has. I think I do recall being able to set a command for toggle Crouch in CoD4. Seems not a very big deal to me, TBH. What other options other than Crouch do you mean that could be better with toggling? Sprint, I guess? Can't really think of any others.

I'd rather play a game that doesn't tell me which servers to play on and doesn't let me mod the game either. It's funny you're trying to talk about realism with CoDMW2 since there are tons of things super unrealistic about it.

So instead of balancing sniping they just removed it from the whole game? Wow.

And its not about adapting its about having fun. Why would I want to adapt to something thats not fun? I find having more is better then having less. Right now BattleField seems to have less. All the vehicles in the world cant make up for poor controls.
Not being able to lay down isn't poor controls. The game is far more dynamic and captivating than COD4 ever was.

Well what BattleField offers is vehicles and an emphasis on team games. Unfortunately the controls suck.

What COD offers is superior controls but no vehicles and too much of an emphasis on death match.

It sounds like you're complaining because it isn't MW2, why don't you just play MW2 if you want this to be exactly the same? I played MW2 before this beta came out and I like this a lot better, if you don't like the style of this game just go back to MW2, wth is the point of arguing with people about it.

After reading the last bunch of messages, It sounds to me like nobody in thread besides Rhettdec has ever really played MW2. Several have played COD4. I won't go in to the reasons.

I have played tons of FPS's and I don't recall ever experiencing running forward while looking left and right without changing direction. Is MW2 the first game to ever support this mechanic?

I might slow down but I doubt Id fall on my face.

Its also technically not realistic to come back to life after being shot hopefully Battle Field wont be including that on any of their future games. But its more about what should be taken from real life and what shouldnt. Personally I like to be able to look to the sides while running.

I've played plenty of MW2 and what he's saying isn't exactly true. You can't look left and right while running you but u can run while strafing. Basically you can run the keep running while you strafe and look one way then turn back straight.

Turning your head isn't the same as strafing, in MW2 you can zig zag while sprinting full speed towards someone. This is probably why they don't allow it, it makes it too easy to close the gap on people.

Yes, youre right. At some point while running if you strafe too much you will go back to normal speed. Im not sure exactly how it works but something along those lines. But I find it much more fluid then disabling the left and right keys all together. You can very easily in COD move back and forth between running and strafing. Disabling strafe while running is too constrictive. They should just memic the controls of COD and incorporate all the things they have that COD doesnt and theyd have a superior game.

But Modern Warfare is all about camping while prone, why would I want to close any such gaps? 😀

Alright I never said it was about all about camping, if you play it a lot I'm sure you have seen plenty of people using a knife build. As a matter of fact I'm not sure why you're worried about prone being gone, I hardly ever see anyone use it in MW2.

Someone else said prone makes MW2 a campfest.

Meh, all those gimmicky techniques never win. Theyll get some kills but usually a good player with a good assult rifle will come out on top.

But ya theres plenty of noobs running around with knifes. lol.

Its also not realistic that a riot shield can withstand an entire clip of full metal jacket bullets like in MW2 but it does.

Well neither games are close to realistic. In the end both games are different, I was kind of annoyed by the running at first but I got used to it pretty fast. I can't say much about the other 2 complaints though, I almost never use prone and I switch my crouch to the hold down option in MW2 anyway because I hate toggle.

No, I'd say sniping is pretty balanced. Usually you don't kill someone with 1 shot unless a)headshot b)they were recently wounded.

The one thing I hope that changes is that it will report you hitting the person as part of the accuracy ratings. Right now it's just on how many bullets you used to kill suchandsuch people, which doesn't mean much.

them not leading the kil charts doesnt make it less annoying to get shot by the guy hiding in a shadow all game who only moves from one campspot to another.

I also hate teh commando knife sprinters too

SO ANNOYING

commando is one of the gayest perks ever, like martyrdom in W@W

One of the problems with MW2 is the killstreaks. People tend to camp out and try to get that nuke to end the game, completely forgetting about the objective. Im like that as well in MW2. If you like big games, the only mode you have is ground war, so you really cant do an 18 man S/D.

In BC2, I dont worry about getting kill streaks and such and I aim for the objectives, assaulting the position at all costs. I dont have to worry about my K/D ratio. The more I assault, the more points I get towards my rank.

the new scoreboard puts less importance in kills. you can't even find out how many kills you have until the rounds end (unless you have the logitech gaming keyboard). i guess it's good for the teamplay aspect but all the k/d whores will be frustrated no doubt.
