What issues might these be? I guess I only played the new maps for a short period of time but I didn't see any major issues besides a little bit of lag.

My understanding is that all the VIP maps were simply unavailable.

Heavy Metal feels so right ^_^

I haven't played a map that big in a long time, why did it take them so long to bring em back? This game could have been so epic with another map pack like this one, easily would have beaten the crap out of CoD.

Yeah, it's like learning the game all over again. There's a lot of wide-open space in a couple of those maps, making it pretty hard to hoof it. Guess I just have to learn the maps.

I think the heavy metal map, well it sucks IMHO. Not enough tanks around to call it like that. It's just boring. You can go minutes without anything happening if your not in a chopper. Map would be nice for sniping but then even with 32 people you hardly ever see someone. But then I'm, that type that prefers shotgun action anyway. ;)

New Battlefield Blog Post: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam -- Join the Battle for Hastings on December 21!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam -- Battle for Hastings Trailer

Today, we are happy to announce a fifth multiplayer bonus map in our upcoming expansion pack Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam!

Bloghastings1.jpg

Concentrated awesomeness. You have to earn this map, though.

This bonus map joins the previously announced Hill 137, Vantage Point, Phu Bai Valley and Cao Son Temple for a total of five maps in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. Some of you might recognize the setting, as this is the classic Operation Hastings map made famous in our PC game Battlefield: Vietnam from 2004.

If you didn’t play it back then, it’s one of the favorites among our fans, featuring everything awesome in one fantastic arena: boats, helicopters, tanks, jeeps, temples, and the signature bridge dividing the map into two strategic areas. To make things a little more interesting, we’re giving you, the players, the power to unlock this fifth map!

So what do you need to do? Easy. You and all your friends playing on PS3, PC, or Xbox 360 need to perform 69 million team actions across Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. So what’s a team action? Well, it’s any and all of these: resupply, revive, heal, spot, and repair. We start counting on December 21st, so make sure you contribute from the start!

This is how we roll.

For an action packed preview of the map and this community challenge, just watch the video at the top of this post.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is out December 18 on EA Store and Steam (PC version). December 21 world-wide on Xbox 360. December 21 on PS3 in North America, and December 22 on PS3 in Europe.

which of the new maps have squad deathmatch versions? i played one of them and it was a pretty awesome map for squad DM; pretty large compared to other squad DM maps and tons of spots to engage enemies from distance. i think it was harvest day, not sure though. i was also getting awesome frame rates and smooth play for once.

All of them. I know, time to update the FAQ...until then.

it works if servers have it enabled, a lot of them dont. sometimes i'll hear people talking when i play..sometimes i wont.

Really? Is that just since this patch? I can't believe servers woudl "forget" otherwise.
I sometimes hear voices, but they they are ALWAYS 3rd party VOIP, as I ask the people speaking about it.

Unfortunately a lot of my buddies have moved away from BC2 so I'm looking for some new playmates who prefer Rush (I'll play some CQ, but I really prefer Rush) and really want to function as a tight-nit squad/team.

A lot of these new maps require a lot more teamwork than the other maps to have an effective attack squad in Rush - heck, I don't think I've even seen past the second set of MCOMs on Harvest because the defense has always won the handful of times I have played.

Let me know if you're interested, doesn't matter to me what rank/skill level you have as long as you're willing to play for the team we can help each other out and have a lot more fun :p.

Oasis is amazing once you get to the 3rd set of points or so and then you're in the largest town seen in all the maps. There are just so many buildings to hide in and work your way to the MCOMs at an attacker in Rush, its pretty amazing. The problem is getting a team good enough to get past the first two sets of MCOMs usually means they'll just bowl over the defenders on the last few as is let alone with the tactical advantage once you're in that huge town.

While most are wide open, the maps are amazing for their ability to flank. Problem is that even with that ability to flank you still need heavily coordinated squads to exploit that flanking ability and keep an attacking force up and fighting at the defenders' base.

Cold War isn't as wide open but there are still great opportunities for some wicked flanking and hiding in many of the buildings is not a problem at all. However the last set of MCOMs are a bit tricky because they're literally right on the edge of the OOB territory meaning they can't really be flanked. Luckily one of the stations can be destroyed by destroying the building it is in and the other can be destroyed by throwing C4 over a rock and down on to it. Basically if the attackers get that far and are smart, the defense can't just sit back and wait it out, they really have to push and keep the attackers back a bit.

haha not as analytical as him i guess, that's what i meant to say. it's good insight though. i'm just more of a do whatever the situation calls for, go with the flow type of player. i don't really bother strategizing for maps because it's hard to coordinate anyways with random ppl on the servers.

I was on a competitive team for BC2 for a while so we naturally went above and beyond with that kind of thing and we'd do it whenever we pubbed together as well.

This is why I'm actually searching for more players willing to play this way because most of my old BC2 friends have moved on (damned SC2/BLOPS) and its less fun for me on my own basically being forced to go with the flow, especially when I join a server with obviously stacked teams and there's nothing I can do about it on my own, and especially on these newer maps that really do require more teamwork for success on Attackers, at least for Rush.

And I'm not really even talking about super strict win at all costs kind of play here, this is pubbing and should be fun, but its really nice having players who can fill out a vehicle crew or just actually work together with basic coordination as a squad.

BTW, I have access to a Teamspeak 3 server if needed, I'd prefer to avoid Vent, it just doesn't cut it anymore compared to TS3 and Mumble.

I'd love to squad up with you Bunny. Go ahead and add me: Leniz
Usually I'll be on in the evenings after work. What's your handle in case we aren't on at the same time and you can't add me?

I'm liking these new maps. Most of the maps that shipped with the game were way to small, but these are actually decent sized so it feels more like BF rather than Call of Duty.
