I don't think any other chipsets CAN EVER have as many problems as the crap VIA puts out on a regular basis.

True...I'm just a little put out with my system's behaviour lately...

Question...wasn't the Target date always Q3 though? Why is it so exciting that we are suddenly one day into Q3. I don't think the boards are actually any closer than they were yesterday.

All I know is that I will be sporting a 1.5GHz Pally + an Asus A7N266 ;)

I have a hard time believing a distributer is getting those boards from MSI already ESP when no other reviews or numbers have been released on this chipset. I am not saying Jimmy is not telling the truth (he probably is! I HOPE HE IS TOO!), I am just REALLY suprised this is happening. Usually we hear and see the benchmarks then wait 2 months before we get the actual product.

:-/.... but if MSI releases another crappy one like there 1.0 revision of the KT266... then I will pass it up! NO thankyou!

Hopefully we can see some benchmarks posted of Quake3, and sysmark stuff... I am real curious to see what difference the chipset will make in computing... 10%? It would be nice!

lol, yeah the chocolate taste quickly fades. I think I'm also having trouble believing that some distrubter (sp) already has the MSI boards...but hopefully they do, because I really wanna get a rig 2gether before mid-september. Drivers will make or break this board (I think that goes for all boards as well)

you guys think nForce boards will be around in time for me to build a system for college (gotta be there august 25) ?

If not, i think i'll just kill myself now and save the anguish.

Yup, the board is gonna cost some dough, but I think it's worth it (Especially if you're actually gonna use the integrated stuff). Since I was building a new rig, I barely have enough $$ to afford to build one w/out a video card and sound card. This chipset offers me my best solution for maybe a little bit more money than an Sis board would cost me. Even if it's $200, I'm still saving money by buying a mobo w/ this chipset, and upgrading when Christmas/Early 2002 comes around. Besides, I can live w/ out all the eye candy in FPS's in sacrifice for a playable framerate for a while. (I think this game will handle EE well, which is my main game that I'm looking forward to)

I know this isn't probably on many people's minds, but do you guys think the mobo and its integrated stuff will be compatible with Linux (specifically the Mandrake distro)?

I've been wanting to build a cheap server around the Duron proc to play around with Linux and server stuff, but I've been hesitant to go with the VIA chipset. The nForce looks like the perfect solution for my needs (everything integrated!), but will Tux like its taste?

This will be the perfect board for my new computer! Im not a big gamer so for my college system this provides an excellent solution. I am however an audiophile. How does this integrated sound compare to my current sound card, a Sound Blaster Live Mp3+? Ive read somewhere that the nforce audio supposedly beats all cards out on the market right now, but they may not have had their facts straight. Guess Ill shortly have a GF2 and a SBL for sale! And when can I get my Pally? ;)

I have also read/heard from multiple sources that the on board sound will nok ur s0x off. It should deffinately be better than SBL.

It'd be nice to see some real genuine benchmarks for the nForce boards, instead of just speculations. The architecture is radically different than anything else to date. Presumably it will be good, but if it's only 5% or 10% above the AMD 761 boards I'm not going to be overly excited, although the pricing will be nice.

Designed by ex-Aureal engineers so should DEFINITELY be better than anyhting CL puts out (b@stards).

Anyway, if you're an audiophile I sure hope you have $550 laying around for a new sound card and you don't listen to MP3z:p

When does Q3 end? I also would like to have a system built by September, but I'm not sure if I should wait for the nForce. Will adding external video take away from some of its performance?

I saw on a review that when they inserted an external vid card, that the performance took a 15-20% hit, but that even though they were concerned w/ that, it was some of the best scores they had ever seen w/ that vid card (ultra I think). so hopefully they get the kinks worked out, and we see a performance increase (Man would that rock!)

You've got it backwards ;) When they were using the integrated graphics, memory benchmarks scores were off 15-20% but were still top notch. When they installed an external card, the scores went through the roof ;)

And that was at ExtremeTech

Then I guess it's 10x's better than what I had thought. Nforce just got more appealing

I checked out extremetech, and I couldn't find that preview

All you guys need to wait until after I get mine so they are not all sold out. ;)
