Seriously, if you care about the environment & saving on fuel, go and buy a VW Lupo diesel 😉 If you need to move lots of people and don't like SUVs, get a minivan 😛

They might like the styling, or the high driving position, so what is that to you?

Personally i will buy either a Prado or a Landcruiser when i finish up @uni, since it's rather hard to drive along the beach in a minvan with a full car load of people & dive gear/fishing gear 😉

& if you want to rant about something worthwhile, obestity costs you FAR more than all the SUV's on the road 😉

Diesels suck! If you care about the environment and human life you wouldn't buy a diesel. The soot from diesels causes many cancers, buy something else.
